just wondering what the reaction will be on here should we get done 0-2. Im guessing….

“we are ace, martinez is ace, the whole club is ace, we didnt need to beat burnley anyway….etc.etc”

Or will some of you finally accept that Bobs revolution was about as succesful as Watt Tylers.

wat tyler must have been one of the dark side because *standishwalker * killed him for daring to question the king,600 years on and there are still differences of opinion on the way we are led.
standish was knighted along with 2 others for standing up for the king i wonder if the others are sir griff and sir jayt

It’s like you almost can’t wait for it to happen to prove how clever you are……….

It will be a shallow day for those Wigan fans to be proud of their prediction of our teams demise. Those that truely gloat wont be fans thats for sure.

Burnley is a classic 6 pointer, Bob and his team have put themselves in the position that they have to win now.

As for the Bob revolution, it hasnt worked yet, give it time and the right players and we will be fine long term !!!!

Play poorly and lose on Saturday, and there can be no excuses, I’m afraid.

Play great, but hit the bar 7 times, and have three blatant penalty appeals turned down, including a fantastic one handed save on the goal line by Steve Fletcher……and I think we can fairly feel very hard-done by!

It is just imperative that we beat the teams who are down there with us, when they come to our stadium. If not, we DESERVE to go down, and can’t have any complaints.

Actually is was Ralph De Springfield in those days. The Standish title only came after marriage into a wealthy and powerful family.

Where did i say i would be proud to lose? Im just wondering if Burnley will be the watershed for Bobby, the fans he has already lost are no longer in his corner, the ones he hasnt, must surely look at things differently should we be beaten by Burnley.

last night i sat with a friend in a different part of the ground than where my season ticket is and was amazed how strong the anti martinez feeling was – where i normally sit not far from the drummer, martinez and the team dont get that much stick apart from boo’s at full time, but at the opposite end of the east stand that was not the case last night.

i actually thought that it wasnt deserved last night,we huffed and puffed and when nzogbia and mccarthy went off just ran out out of steam and ideas against a pretty good villa side, but there seems to be ever growing anti martinez feeling despite what his supporters on here claim.

I don’t think any of us have ever denied there is an anti-Martinez feeling – that much is obvious.

And that’s based on what evidence exactly??

perhaps i should rephrase it then-the pro martinez lobby on here have always cried down any one who dares to say anything about him, they label his detractors as non supporters, hysterical no nothings or jcl’s,they also use a high handed aloof superior tone to put down the ones among us who despite claims, ARE wigan athletic fans ,but not martinez supporters, and as i said before there are more and more who are beginning to call into question team martinez.

My take on it, is this.

We ALL want Martinez to succeed. (well, most of us :) ) I certainly do, contrary to what you may believe. I’d like nothing better.

We’d love his theory of passing football to bear fruition.

We’d love him to ship players out, and replace them with better.

But…..his naivety, stubborness to change, tactics, etc have given many of us much food for thought. We can only opine on what we see, at the end of the day. And the table doesn’t lie, as they say. I’ve never known a Latics side ship as many goals, as we have this season. Far too many capitulations, as well. Who get’s the blame? The manager, of course!

SHOULD WE GET RID OF HIM NOW?

Well, what would it achieve? We have EIGHT games left. If we did change manager:

              1. Who would come in? I can’t think of many managers available. Some will say Mark Hughes, but would he come? Who else is available? Gary Megson? Phil Brown? And we know what Whelan is like. 2 or 3 weeks would go by with Whelan preaching everything good about Paul Jewell and openly stating that “He’s the man I want”, with Graham Barrow in temporary charge, or something. :o

              2. Would the new manager be able to make a difference in such a small space of time? I doubt it. Same players, and all that. I think it might get that close, that if we lose another couple of the ‘winnable’ games we have left, it’ll be enough to send us down. (seriously, I think the margin for error is so tight from now on)

Therefore, I think it’s a case of stick with what we have got, hope for the best, and then readress the situation in the Summer, whatever league we are in. Whether Whelan will or not, I don’t know. He has promised him a job for 3 years, whatever happens.

Personally, I’ve never booed them yet, or called for the managers head AT the game, but I can’t lie and pretend that everything is rosey. I’ve been puzzled with a lot of things that have happened, and been done, and I am wondering as to what should happen, in the summer, I’ll be honest.

There you go again, hysterical, paranoid and totally over the top reaction. It’s rag week every day with you, isn’t it? ;)

Admittedly, some of the pro-Martinez faction are quite fanatical but you can hardly claim that those on your side of the fence have the monoploy on calm and reasoned debate.

I don’t think the pro-Martinez (vast) majority have been hysterical in their support. Quite the opposite, they have shown patience in the face of extreme pessimism and nonsense.

Supporting any football team has its downside particularly if you are outside the top two in the Prem.

This isn’t blind support and if the revolution has come off the tracks next season then I’ll be after some answers.

However until that point, this season, I will support my team and I will shout down anyone who wants to abuse my team or its players, whether they be Wiganers or any opposition supporters.

Getting back to the historical point – if this was a siege of our little town in the Middle Ages you lot would have buggered off without a fight a long time ago.
