Big money move
7 July 2014 at 8:38 pm #132178Fingers crossed it is true, he was a bag o shite when he signed for us & now he is even worse ! Captain cock up !
7 July 2014 at 11:40 pm #132179Good luck to him.He wont be last of the big earners. If we dont go up this season many more will follow, thats how it goes these days.
8 July 2014 at 9:59 am #132181Just goes to show what idiotic supporters we have among us good grief with Jordi gone ,Caldwell likely to go I wonder who the idiots next target is
8 July 2014 at 9:44 pm #132190Gary Caldwell IMHO was a great captain and defender. Yes he made the odd blooper, but also made some last ditch tackles for our cause.
His goal at Anfield will also live long in our memories.
He played for best part of a season with an injury niggle, trying desperately to get back to full fitness to help our play off surge.
If you feel the need to wet yourself laughing at the thought of Caldwell being offered a big money deal in Greece, then that’s up to you, but nobody can say that that Gary Caldwell didn’t give 110% every time he put on the blue and white shirt.
I for one wish him good luck [if indeed he does go]and thanks for providing us with great memories in our time in the English Premier League.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!11 July 2014 at 1:40 am #132221He was/is dog shite, hence Calamity Caldwell. Funny how people will remember the few things he ever did right and forget about his hopelessness.
Titus Bramble was head and shoulders above as a defender and player but got panned for one or two mistakes.Nice epitaph though, nowt for Jordi Gomez? He was worth one, he could play football.

Except in the 2011-12 season when the things he did right was remembered well enough for him to be voted Player of the Year.
11 July 2014 at 12:31 pm #132226That’s the thing with most Latics fans, they love a trier and that’s enough for most. Whether they can play football or not seems irrelevant.
11 July 2014 at 1:12 pm #132227Except in the 2011-12 season when the things he did right was remembered well enough for him to be voted Player of the Year.Never the player of the year that year no matter how good he was in the run in. Player of the last 5 months maybe.
11 July 2014 at 1:27 pm #132229Gary Caldwell IMHO was a great defender.
That finished the post for me.
Have you also forgotten the collective groan of disbelief when he strolled up to take that 1st penalty ……………..???
Yep good luck to him but I for one won’t be shedding any tears

To win player of the year that’s the best time to come good. During that last 5 months the whole team played well so he must have stood out quite noticeably.
No one is claiming he is some world beater but to say Bramble was head and shoulders above him as a defender is stretching things a bit, if you pardon the pun. Not sure you would want Bramble in charge of marshalling a defence.11 July 2014 at 1:50 pm #132231To win player of the year that’s the best time to come good. Not sure you would want Bramble in charge of marshalling a defence.I’d put them in the same bracket TBH. Titus was solid as a rock for us until he had to think about things and tried to play football as opposed to just defending. See Caldwell v Swansea as a direct comparison.
11 July 2014 at 1:50 pm #132232Have you also forgotten the collective groan of disbelief when he strolled up to take that 1st penalty ……………..???Firstly – I don’t remember a groan – more a bit of astonishment that with better penalty takers he was the first. At least he had the bottle to take one.
But even so, because he isn’t one of the top penalty takers means absolutely nothing when considering his ability elsewhere on the park.
11 July 2014 at 2:11 pm #132234Strange how I find myself defending Caldwell when I didn’t actually rate him either. But to say he was/is “dog shite” is unfair and inaccurate.
A similar quality player to Bramble yes, but to say Bramble was head and shoulders better is again inaccurate.11 July 2014 at 3:13 pm #132235Have you also forgotten the collective groan of disbelief when he strolled up to take that 1st penalty ……………..???
