Well at least I’ve livened the board up a bit!
A couple of points, I’d like to make just to back up my original stance.
Caldwell to Panathanaikos wasn’t the side splitting part of it, they are a broken big team in a pretty poor league, he’d fit in nicely. The point was the big money part, seriously? Anyway I haven’t seen that he’s gone anywhere, newspaper rubbish prob.
Caldwell v Bramble, I seem to remember a very decent defender and ex-manager of ours coming back for Titus and signing him for about a million and taking him to Sunderland. I’d say Steve Bruce is a better judge of a defender than anyone on this board. To say I am inaccurate about an opinion is inaccurate in my opinion.
Ref the pen, I did more than groan, as did everyone around me bar none.
A trier yes, a big money footballer? No.

Decent back-up for the first XI and certainly has the experience to pass on to the kids.

I totally agree with you, however, I venture that some here would still argue that your opinion is worth doodly-squat and that theirs ‘trumps’ all others.
As for Caldwell, never the big player some here try to make him out and, for me, his mistakes far outweighed his better performances. Some say he had the turning circle of a super-tanker – perhaps unfair but I get the simile.
13 July 2014 at 4:43 pm #132246Caldwell – One of the worst defenders i have seen playing for Wigan (for the level) A real cringe moment when either the ball is approaching him or someone looks as though they are going to go around him, Then comes the penalties, fuck ups and red cards.
As a coach, I think he will be a revelation, He has that kind of determined no bullshit attitude that will make him a brilliant coach and future manager.
