10 February 2010 at 3:33 pm #22275Not exactly sparking for the Black Cats, is he ?As opposed to the Latics squad
10 February 2010 at 3:36 pm #22276AnonymousReemember Bruce looking after the lads career by bringing him away from the north east, away from the problems in his life?
Funny how he took him back to them, innit.
Oh the irony of it.10 February 2010 at 3:39 pm #22279He is a worker, hard tackler and can pick a decent pass. A better version of hendry thomas (hopefully in time he will improve) but a poor mans michael brown (in his prime).
Can’t do much else el clattermole, looked good in our side playing with Palacios but after he left he was sh*t!
10 February 2010 at 3:52 pm #22283You’re all so bitter. Cats was one of the better players to wear a latics shirt and is better than anything we have in the centre now. Sunderland fans are saying they should be building the team around him. I would say yes, personally (bar injury and sending off) He is doing well.

Bar injuries and sendings off, he’s only played about 10 minutes.
Thug and liability of the highest order. I’d take old gormless Thomas any day ;)
10 February 2010 at 4:23 pm #22287I would have Diame over Catts……i think :?
10 February 2010 at 5:46 pm #22298Cattermole is twice the player Hendry Thomas will ever be!……….
10 February 2010 at 5:48 pm #22301Cattermole is twice the player Hendry Thomas will ever be!……….Maybe so. I just don’t like him.
10 February 2010 at 6:40 pm #22310I just find it funny that while the player is here is classed as a seriously good player, (One of the best at the club) yet as soon as he leaves no matter who we bring in is better. If Cats was still here Griff you wouldn’t have said a poor mans Micheal Brown (In his pomp), you’d say Cats>Brown everyday of the week. Same with Valencia, same is gunna happen with Rodders if he leaves, you’ll just all say he was dump and when some shit bag replaces him, you’ll say you never liked Rod in the first place.
Cattermole is bound to get sent off, he makes loads of tackles a game , he was the top tackler in the whole of the Prem last season. Obviously though he is abit dirty but so is Scholes (class in his prime), so is Essien (Class) and so is Mascherano (Class). Just because he is dirty doesn’t mean he is a crap player.
10 February 2010 at 6:48 pm #22313If Cats was still here Griff you wouldn’t have said a poor mans Micheal Brown (In his pomp), you’d say Cats>Brown everyday of the week. Not me, mate. I know that people always move on and I never bear grudges when that happens.
In fact, I have never said Cattermole is a bad player (though I don’t think he was the nailed-on England class player that a lot of people thought he was when he was here), I just never liked his attitude. Still don’t.
The final straw for me was when he chased some poor young kid from St Mirren half way across the pitch in a pre-season friendly kicking lumps out of him. I think that might have been the same moment that Roberto thought he might be better off letting him go, too.

Nicely done, replying to all of my post there.
Do you think we should have let Cattermole go when we did?
When do you think Brown was in his pomp?10 February 2010 at 7:26 pm #22325Nicely done, replying to all of my post there.

When do you think Brown was in his pomp?Yes OK, I have failed the fit and proper cut and pasters test.
Given that Cattermole clearly wanted to go, then yes. I think Diame is potentially a better player, though not necessarily Thomas. I think I compared Cattermole and Thomas earlier but that was from a “thug” viewpoint.
Not sure Brown was ever in his pomp really, but we could have used someone of his ilk and particuarly attitude at times this season.
10 February 2010 at 10:11 pm #22366I think if you look at the stats HT has made more tackles in the prem league than just about anyone. Very similar player to Catt, both mini thugs and both create fek aw going forward.
We saw last night that young McCarthy drove us forward at evey opportunity, when HT came on his first half dozen passes went either sideways or back. However, if you offered me Diame or Cattermole, I would take Momo anyday. I can see this lad being another valencia / palacios, who makes it big in the prem and in doing so makes our illustrious owner some big bucks in the next 18 months / two years.
Cattermole has had his fair share of injuries / suspensions already this season, but what I’ve seen of him he looks the shadow of the player he was at wigan. Yet another example of stick with what you’ve got and you’ll be aw reet. I couldn’t resist thanking charlie last night for the run he made down the wing last setdy that resulted in cattermole landing on his back like he’d bin shot or summert.
From Matlock to ManU
