12 February 2010 at 7:19 pm #22554Glad you weren’t being serious. We already have enough pedants on this site, allegedly.
:D Shhh, don’t wake the children. They’ll be back to annoy us again. :?
Anyway, I have taken an executive decision to rise above it. 8-)

They’ll all be on Vat or Owd Git’s case again then.13 February 2010 at 1:49 am #22592Most who know me on here, and the fact I have told you many times, know i never wanted Martinez in the first place, and have I probably been the person who has campaigned and called loudest for him to be sacked. In the last few weeks I decided to keep my trap shut for once and see why most on here disagree with my opinion of Martinez and support him like they do.
Well after the last few games starting at Notts county away , the Everton, county home replay ,Sunderland last Saturday and last night against Stoke, plus his post match interviews on sky or MOD i have had a major change of opinion on him.
I no longer believe Martinez should be sacked.
I am now convinced he should be sectioned and detained under the mental health act.
You got me laughing for a few seconds, so thanks for that. Anyway, he’s building a team to go to Europe. Gomez is perfect for us, but he gives no effort or passion at any game. If Gomez decides to make some effort he should stay until the end of next season.
14 February 2010 at 11:35 am #22650it was meant to be a sarcastic quip – you lot seem to think hes doing a good job and i dont think hes very bright, actually he could well be bright its just he is not very good at his job.
Yes, I know it was. We also know how you feel. You’ve told us so a milion times. No real need to come on saying exactly the same things, dropped point after dropped point.
Just because some of us are prepared to give him time to rectify some of the shortcomings he undoubtedly has doesn’t make us all imbeciles and you Guus Hiddink.[/quote]
Hypothetically – how much time will you give him?
15 February 2010 at 11:37 am #22730Hypothetically – how much time will you give him?As a fan, or as the person who makes the decision? Because it’s clear that Whelan thinks he is here for the long term, even if that means us spending some time outside of the Premier league.
Personally, I am not in favour of chopping and changing managers. Also, I like the way that Martinez is trying to play, albeit it we aren’t doing it all that well at the moment. I actually admire his stubborness to keep playing it, too; I don’t believe he doesn’t understand other tactics, just that he thinks this is the right one. However, he needs to get a squad of players in who can do it on a consistent basis.
It is also clear that he is also working under strict budget controls which not many (higher profile) managers would put up with. Given that that financial regime is helping to safeguard the club’s future then I wouldn’t put a time limit on Bobby’s stay. I wouldn’t lose a great deal of sleep if we were relegated, as disappointing as it would be.
It all, depends what you want as a club. If you want us winning 60% of matches and qualifying for the Europa and/or Champions League right now then he propably isn’t the right manager, right now. Certainly, Whelan isn’t the right owner for that scenario either and I, for one, am OK with that.
15 February 2010 at 11:50 am #22731Good post Griff. You’ll get slated for it.
