Lads, since when have Cleverley and McArthur been so good they warrant a first team spot? Yes, they deserve a chance, but Martinez showed with McCarthy he knows when the time is right to play them regularly. He doesn’t want to throw youngsters in for the sake of it and risk getting ripped by the likes of you lot.
The problem with our players, as Griff stated is they aren’t very good. We can’t play the way Martinez wants us to play unfortunately because our players aren’t good enough technically or mentally to do so. The tempo is too slow, there’s far too many side ways passes which let the opposition regroup, and zero movement from the strikers.
I’m not for a second saying we should go long ball, but we need to go 4-4-2 and vary it a little.
I dont very often make negative comments about our players, but 9 times out of ten hugos first touch is woeful, also 9.9 times out of ten he’s shooting is woeful and that goes for were ever he is playing.
Zoggy looks as though he can’t be bothered and on the odd occasion when he decides to have a go, he is so predictable, me missus would negate him, i’m afraid that IMOhe is a bit of a one trick pony.
Why oh why did we change from the unpredictability of Stam ( On the 2 occasions hes started we’ve scored and got points) to the predictability of zoggy.
And i said in post a few weeks back that with our style of play we will struggle to score more than 1 goal in a game, and we will need more than one on many occasions if we are to win enough not to get into a relegation battle, I still stand by that.
Martinez will never play 4-4-2 so save your fingers people!
His formation is the kiss of death for whoever gets the lone striker role. Think only Hugo has managed more than a handful of goals and we’ve stuck him out on the left.
Fig needs dropping too, look back how many goals come down his side. Personally I’d play Zog there, played a lot for Newcastle, that would get Moses in, put Clevely on the left, switch Hugo down the middle with Franco and any 2 midfielders, don’t think there much between them, but hey what do I know. This team would get more than 1 goal though.
