Parked the bus like Shrewsbury did and worked again well done Shrewsbury well done Charlton.
That’s football need move on.30 December 2017 at 2:00 pm #164615Well I was right about the 2nd gear bit I guess! Charlton were woeful in my opinion and they seemed to drag us down to their level!
30 December 2017 at 2:16 pm #164617Although what both Shrewsbury and Charlton did can be effective both of those performances represent all that is wrong with football.
We tried it on many occasions last season and it was awfull. Time wasting from the off too stinks.
To think Robinson was linked with us once.30 December 2017 at 4:30 pm #164626Parking the bus is dead easy in the modern game. If you use wing backs and lone striker you are inviting lesser teams to be ultra defensive against you. It is simple to have 5 defenders sitting deep completely snuffing out your attacking threat. It is also the reason we see so much sideways play with the attacking team trying to find a way round it. If you don’t want to play against teams parking the bus then be offensive and set up in an attacking formation. Pace width and numbers in the box is the only way to stop this phenomenon from spreading.

Change of tac tics for once and we hit it long but their centre backs we’re big and did well to be fair.
If that’s the best idea Robinson has got for playing a top team in this league then I doubt he’ll go any higher, shocking.30 December 2017 at 5:52 pm #164635Parking the bus is dead easy in the modern game. How many crosses did our so called wing backs put in last night?
Elder was awfull last night and Burn was pretty ineffective as far as attacking was concerned.30 December 2017 at 6:12 pm #164637Elder was awfull last night and Burn was pretty ineffective as far as attacking was concerned.Do you mean Byrne?
30 December 2017 at 6:18 pm #164638Dan burn played as a forward for last 10 mins occasionally last season when we was desperate for a goal and caused chaos in the penalty area.
Toney was on the end of the long balls into the area but wasn’t attacking the cross, big Dan could be a plan B in these situations in my opinion.30 December 2017 at 6:33 pm #164639Parking the bus is dead easy in the modern game. Elder was awfull last night and Burn was pretty ineffective as far as attacking was concerned.[/quote]That’s the idea Donny but the problem is that wing backs have to cover the length of the pitch so it is bound to slow play down waiting for them to be in an advanced position whereas the old fashioned winger was always up with the play. Teams defending deeply and in numbers find it far easier to deal with wing backs coz they dictate the space around their own penalty area.
