Do you bookmark all this kind of stuff or just store it in your memory banks? Either way it’s a pretty sad obsessive life you lead.

Otter, I reckon mutty,s post is a top example of the lengths the modern footballer will go to.Anything to get their own way just look at this window and the power the players have nowadays.
I get that, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have been at the forefront of his mind or in his bookmarks, if it hadn’t been an ex Latics player involved.

His reply was a complete digression from the thread subject and on this occasion I reckon he was on the wind up!
I’m the new one man board who decides on shit like this! :)

I thought the thread was “cheats in football” so N,Zog isn’t in football and getting someone else to do your test is not cheating?

        How did mutt digress?.

I think most people would agree with me that he wandered off subject. The thread was clearly about on field cheating, in this case the Portsmouth guy feigning injury to make the situation look worse than it actually was or can we add references to footballers cheating on their wives/partners because that is also cheating footballers! ;) Mutty was on the wind up and you know it !

To me the over reacting and feigning he had been hit in the face when obviously he hadn’t is cheating.

It is marrer but Dunk was sent off for violent conduct which is always a red. No matter what the provocation the ref will send a player off the minute he raises a hand, fist head in retaliation. Tilders is the best one to clarify the officials position.
You’re right Nuneaton – it becomes violent conduct as soon as a punch, kick or head butt is thrown whether it connects or not

As for the Pompey player – I wasn’t at the game, but the highlights I’ve seen from Sky don’t prove that the punch was in the chest & not the face. It looks like the face to me if I’m honest. I think that you’d be really hard pressed to prove that he simulated getting punched in the face to get Dunkley sent off that evidence

You can caution a player for simulation even if a foul etc. has been committed. I refereed a game in the Liverpool County Premier League where I awarded a penalty for s shirt pull but cautioned the player who’d been fouled for simulation coz he went down arms flailing & screaming like he’d been shot.
It’s not something I’d do again though coz whilst the assessor backed me up but it just brought me a whole heap of grief from the players team for the rest of the game

I wouldn’t appeal that red card, as it probably was a red card irrespective of Pitman making a meal of it. There was also a degree of movement towards Pitman by Dunkley as well.

I think there’s a high risk of losing the appeal and it then being extended.

Perhaps best to suck it up and let this one go.

The club must think they have a case.

Nail hit well and truly on head.

Nuneaton is one of the few on here who can actually see past the “he’s a rugby mon and therefore his opinion is automatically wrong”. There are cheats in all walks of life, from Fred Goodwin through to the old turnstile operator who let you carry your kid over the turnstile instead of paying the 50p admission fee. Footballers are probably up there with bankers as the worst for it, looking to blame anyone but themselves for their own failings.

Or is cheating only cheating when its someone else’s player doing the cheating?

I haven’t mentioned rugby and I honestly couldn’t give a toss if you support them or not. I come from a family of rugby supporters. I just find it hard to take someone seriously when they stop supporting a team because not everything is tickety boo then flit off to support somebody and question other people’s loyalty. It’s hypocritical. Regarding this thread it’s pretty obvious you stored this somewhere to bring up even though you chose to do it out if context. We know all footballers cheat to one extent or another. And we all dislike it no matter who does it. It’s just that at times you come across as desperate to do down the club you claim to have once supported and this is one of those times. I’m sure that if you didn’t have such a itchy trigger you could have found a more relevant example.

                    I think they’re making a mistake.

It was actually more than just a ‘stray elbow’. He actually did turn towards Pitman and lashed his arm out. Guilty as charged, in my mind. I just can’t see an appeal getting is anywhere and ending up being extended to 4 or 5 games.

I sit at other end of pitch and it looked like a slap rather than an elbow, not seen any footage of it but if he’s even raised his arm then it is bang to rights. why didn’t their player get a card for his provocation
