15 May 2013 at 1:40 am #113424Getting to the Premier League was infinitely better than being there. Let’s hope we can enjoy that feeling again.
And if offered it again I’d still take winning the FA Cup over Premier League survival.
Winning the cup certainly took the edge off the feeling of being relegated. A bridge too far and I think we all knew it really.
Another trip to Wembley, at least six Europa League games and something to play for other than finishing 17th is a lot to look forward to, if you ask me.
15 May 2013 at 1:41 am #113425To be honest I’m looking forward to the away games next season really didn’t like the corporate plastic feel that some of the larger clubs have, lets enjoy sunday and give the lads a good premier league send off.
15 May 2013 at 1:44 am #113426It’s a strange feeling, but the disappoint felt of relegation from the PL tonight is nowhere near as great as the ecstasy felt after winning the FA Cup on Saturday.
I thought I would have been really gutted and inconsolable, but I somehow feel an excitement for the new season.
It feels like a new start with something other than survival to strive for.
Lets give the players a good send off at the weekend, and look forward and build for a promotion challenge next season.COME ON WIGAN
Yep, we still have a Wembley appearance in August and then it could be Marseille on a Thursday neet, followed by a trip to Doncaster. Some good local derby games to look forward to. We might just enjoy ourselves.
Will not have to listen to sourface Lawrenson and surely the Refs can’t be as overtly biased as those in the Prem.
Ask yourself, how many clubs have actually won something in the last 8 years: answer not many, but Little Wigan did win the FA CUP and the hearts of millions.

exactly, arsenal no trophy in god knows how many years.
all they fight for is 4th place.15 May 2013 at 1:47 am #113428So we were relegated tonight but to put into perspective what we have achieved imagine it is 2023, do you think Doncaster Rovers who have just won League 1 will be the FA Cup holders having spent 8 years in the top flight and also played in the League Cup final? THAT is the size of what we this club has achieved. We may never return to the top flight but we will always be the 2013 FA Cup winners who cost Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd league titles. The Premier League trophy has been paraded infront of us twice whereas Liverpool fans have seen it once.Hold your heads high over what this club has achieved. There was a Wigan Athletic Football Club before the Premier League and there will be one after.

15 May 2013 at 1:56 am #113431For me we got relegated after the Swansea game and was angry and gutted. Then along came the FA Cup final and the elation that brought and still brings it wiped all the disappointment away.
Feel nothing but pride about supporting the club I have done for last 28 or so years and cannot wait for Sunday to show my appreciation again when they start parading that trophy around the DW. Relegation wasnt due to lack of effort. With the new training ground and academy in the pipeline, the fact I understand we are debt free, have many good players who even after departures will be good enough for us to have a more than decent crack at promotion the club is in a very decent shape. Whilst i wish we had survived I’m also looking forward to a new challenge next season both domestically and now internationally. I hope we pack the ground on Sunday and celebrate a momentous achievement,.

Hopefully Bob will stay and encourage the majority of the squad to stay.
He might have to bring in a dozen or so players to cover the inevitable departures, and the extra games, but I’m hopeful for the new season.15 May 2013 at 9:33 pm #113549here here cant wait for next season, bring it on.Lets party on saturday, and remember the 8yrs and the one hell of a saturday.

15 May 2013 at 10:47 pm #113558was gutted last night and felt flat after saturday, but today i dont, wouldnt swap saturday for the world, we’ve been relegated, so what, we move on, we are wigan athletic, we support the club not the league we are in and always will. if we can keep the majority of the team together we will take the championship by storm. you will always be my sunshine.
