A couple of weeks ago I was asked by someone who has contacts within the club and had seen my constant anti Martinez posts on here if I would like the opportunity to put a selection of written questions directly (via this contact) to Roberto Martinez at an up- coming meeting between him and a selection of the press and message board representatives.
Originally I agreed to do so and wrote a number of my concerns with the intention of sending them to the intermediary, but when I thought about it I decided not to, partly out of respect for the part Martinez played in our recent history and also I really thought it would be counter – productive at a time of low morale and despite my rants on here I would love to be proved wrong in my belief that he is not up to the task he has been appointed to do.
I also believe, and have voiced this opinion before on here, that Whelan took a calculated decision when he appointed Martinez and he would become the sacrificial lamb.
David Whelan was in a no lose situation, when he began downsizing WAFC and preparing for his ultimate exit – in Roberto he had given the people their champion and all the blame when things started to go wrong would not come knocking on his door, and this is why I feel sorry for Martinez and decided to not try and rock the boat so to speak.If the person who originally offered me the opportunity to ask some questions does happen to read this post I would like one question passed on if it is not too late, despite all the things I have just said it is one that I feel is needed and a burning question that I feel everybody, even his loyalist defenders wants to ask.
Roberto do you find it acceptable that we can play a full 90 + minutes of football without making the opposition goal keeper make a save of any significance as is happening more and more with your set up and how your teams play ?
Surely you could have just PM’d the question to JayT rather than hoping he just happens to read that.

We have a squad capable of a Top 10 finish, but the depth isn’t there and neither is the belief.
Bet the players (and Bobby) are chuffed with 2-0. Well, I can’t say I’m downhearted either.

What a noble gesture. I think you’re warming to him.The answer will go something like ” We are still learning etc etc etc ” I personally think we are going backwards as do many others ! I honestly cannot believe that some fans still think he can turn it round with his clueless tactics ! Bereft of ideas in the final third week in week out ! The annoying thing is that I do not want this club to go down and what I see is some sort of self destruction going on ! This problem lies deeper than most would suspect I fear ! A similar thing is going on at PNE ! :(

There where two members of admin off this site who attended the meeting and i wasnt one of them, so its not exactly hard to work out who you are talking about……. :roll:

standish it was more a point bourne out of pure frustration – and despite my perseived hatred of martinez, i have always deep down hoped that martinez would prove me wrong and get it right,and the original post would go some way to tell how much i am hurting as a fan, just as many others are, despite my rants on here.our support as fans manifests in different ways -mine takes the fraizer out of dads army route – crying doom – but it does not stop me wanting the best for wafc just as much as the eternal optomists among you.
As i said i truly believe martinez is being used as a pawn in whelans master plan and i truly feel sorry for him,but martinez is not up to the task as a manager of a small premiership team.
I was laughed at 18 months ago when i claimed his style of play would not work,and i will repeat now what i said then, “the better, richer, top teams will out football you and the lesser teams will out muscle us, or hoof us off the park and martinez has not modified his tactics to adapt to this reality and it seems he never will.
hence my question if he thinks it was acceptable to play this way despite it clearly not working.Who,s langate?
