For many years I’ve tried to plan holidays around the football season. I have managed to do it in the main, despite the missus moaning about missing out on last minute cheapo deals.
As usual I have made sure I’m flown out there, lozed about for two weeks then flown back in plenty time for the opening day fixture. B)
This year was no different, we fly out on the 23rd July and come back on the 5th August in nice time time for our opening fixture on the…fekin 3rd August ????!. :woohoo:
From Matlock to ManU

23 May 2013 at 2:24 am #114310Due to all our Wembley appearances there will be no proper holiday away from Horc Towers this year. But its been effing worth it.

There are many, many more in the same boat.
We hav decided to forgo anything in summer and take a risk on a week in, or close to a decent europa league destination.
23 May 2013 at 9:14 am #114319I am going when the weather is best not when a football match is on ;)
23 May 2013 at 11:51 am #114324I was in the Dominican Republic in my hotel room watching us beat Arsenal 3-2, I was there with my girlfriend the sun was blazing, fantastic all inclusive hotel, white beaches everything you could want from a foreign holiday and all I wanted was to be back in Wigan.

Lisbon is still one of my favourite cities, it would be a dream come true if we managed to draw them(Estoril)
23 May 2013 at 2:52 pm #114343Looked into Estoril and Cascais for holidays in the last 12 months and Lisbon with Easyjet were the cheapest European flights available at all times.
Fingers crossed. Estoril casino wouldn’t know what’s hit it!

I’ve lost a couple of quid on the two occassions i’ve benn in there !
Last time we stayed in Estoril(20 years ago) our hotel was next door to the casino.
I remember going over christmas/new year with a big gang of us, and we were all in tee shirts and shorts during the daytime and the locals were all dressed in fur coats and scarves.
On the same occassion we met a bloke in a bar who introduced us to another fellow he claimed was eusabio’s brother. My mouth is watering at the prospect of a trip there – super bock beer, vino verdi and white port spring to mind.

I do like Lisbon but must say I actually prefer Porto – which is one of my favourite cities, although that’s probably because I’ve spent more time there than in Lisbon.Saying that though, I stayed at this place in Cascais a few years ago. Lovely hotel.
