Forgive me mate. It’s an age thing or a frustration thing or just the bloody red wine.
By the way, a great point today but so annoying it’s not three again after taking the lead twice. These were the days.

      Great picture donny.

Do you ever get the same feeling walking to the DW as you did walking down 1st, 2nd or 3rd Avenue?

      I know I don’t.[/quote]

Nope. Looking over the soccerdome fields towards Beech Hill isn’t the same either.

To think that someone in that street had the misfortune of owning an Austin Allegro. You wouldn’t wish that on your worst enemy.

I had two of them back in the day, you would have thought I’d learn my lesson after the first.
My 2nd one was a Vanden Plas, so it was a step up, if that’s possible with an Austin Allegro.

I had a couple of Metros also, now they were terrible cars.

How on earth were Metros, Allegros, the Princess and Ambassador allowed to be sold.
Not forgetting the Morris Marina and Ital, its no wonder the British Car manufacturing industry secummed to Datsun and Toyota.

My first car was a Morris Ital, the car that finally killed Austin Morris.

I had a special name for it but I couldn’t type it on here!

It had a manual choke, remember them?

How can you leave out a the Hillman Avenger the TR7 and the Rover SDI. Makes you wonder how the hell we ever had a motor industry.

PS I too had a mustard coloured Allegro with brown vinyl roof given to me by my dad. I always did get the impression he didn’t like me.

Then upgraded to triumph Spitfire 1500 then a Stag. If I remember accurately the original Stag engine was replaced by a lot of owners with a v8 out of a Rover as the aluminium head was a nightmare and they were basically tripe. Spitfire was ace….unfortunately the Stag came with another bus pass for the journey to Lamberhead Industrial Estate every day. I just didn’t learn…..cool over common sense.
