My first car was a Morris Ital, the car that finally killed Austin Morris.
I had a special name for it but I couldn’t type it on here!
It had a manual choke, remember them?
My mate had an Ital, that he inherited from his Dad, he used to say that he’d done 27,000 miles in it and reckoned he’d pushed the fkn thing for 23,000 of them !
I bet his Dad bought mine, I sold the sh1theap £100
£100…….You robbing git!!!!
Well…..
It still had half a tank of petrol!

How much was petrol back then? £1.50 a gallon at most.
5 x £1.50 = £7.50, I rest my case Mr Edwards you are a wheeler dealer cowboy mate.

Its a fair cop, guilty as charged. It didn’t even have a cassette player!
What was the speed machine you had just bought going to Crewe one end of season? Might have been Huddersfield?
18 February 2020 at 11:30 am #1851671 litre mint green mini metro for me, loved her, not even a radio, but I loved her
18 February 2020 at 4:10 pm #185168I had a couple of Metros also, now they were terrible cars.
How on earth were Metros, Allegros, the Princess and Ambassador allowed to be sold.
Not forgetting the Morris Marina and Ital, its no wonder the British Car manufacturing industry secummed to Datsun and Toyota. How can you leave out a the Hillman Avenger the TR7 and the Rover SDI. Makes you wonder how the hell we ever had a motor industry.
PS I too had a mustard coloured Allegro with brown vinyl roof given to me by my dad. I always did get the impression he didn’t like me.
I had a Hillman Avenger as well, bloody ‘ell I have had all the crap cars over the years.
Ditto horc I also was unlucky enough to have an Avenger sold the poxy thing without engine as it blew up on the 55 coming back from Blackpool.
Some more doozers from back then
Wartburg
Moskewitch
Simca
NSU PrinzThen of course there was the Italian garbage that would later reincarnate as Lada,s lol.

Other drivers would get extremely angry when you overtook them, it was like the ultimate insult to them.
It was however very reliable but I’m not saying how much I sold it for.
18 February 2020 at 5:44 pm #185171Mine was like triggers broom when I sold it
21 February 2020 at 1:18 pm #185206Says it will be his biggest achievement in management if he keeps the Tics up this season, well a bigger achievement and being a bigger man would be Cook owning up to all the cock ups he’s made with shocking substitutions and tactics which has got us in this mess in the first place, but he won’t.

He’s at that stage now where he can’t win with some no matter what he says/does.
