I cannot understand how Cook could countenance a loan signing, Leon Clarke, and send James Vaughn out on loan. Vaughn suffers from Cook’s aversion to youth against his preference to old players. Vaughn, this season, started 7 times. A used sub 9 times and sub not used 6 times. He has speed, enthusiastic and has scored 2 goals. Now nobody can say that Clarke shows enthusiasm and has missed more open goals than an alleged top striker would. Sorry this is another bad decision by Cook. How can Vaughn be given a real chance when he was only given a start 7 times.I always thought he played well. But this hit and miss selection procedure, the reliance on old players on loan up front is counter productive.

Then the reluctance to use youth players. Chucks them out on loan where, I read in the Football League Paper and Non Leage paper how well they are doing. Today I read that JOE PIGGOTT hit his first hat trick playing for Altrincham. He spent time on loan to Morecambe, starting at Rochdale and Everton then joining Dundee Utd. Returning to Warrington Town from where he was given a trial with Wigan. Were they are “nurturing him in their under 23 set up!

I am tired of seeing, season after season, young players coming on to the pitch to get accolades for winning this or that and hardly seeing any of them again.

Look at PRESTON they are relying on youth. They are doing well. When will COOK or better still the Board wake up to this really bad defect in the managers selection. Who was it who said IF they are good enough they are old enough!

“Read in the non-League paper how well they are doing”?

Maybe that’s because they are playing non-league, not Championship.

When even Will Grigg struggled in the Championship I don’t think the fact that someone is banging them in for Altrincham or Rochdale or whoever means much.
