Due to work i may not be able to go to all the games this season so left the season ticket renewal .
After a rethink decided to get one adult and one child ,thinking that the price and the payment plan made it an offer not to be missed and even missing games i would still be ahead finacially .
” would like to renew 2 of my tickets from last year please ”
“no problem , that will be £390 , you have missed the deadline for direct debit plan ”
” ah ,forget it then i will just have those tickets for the Blackpool game ”
” cant sell you them , season ticet holders only in e2 from now on , can sell you the next seat in e3 though ! ”
“ok , but can you confirm if a game is a sell out and seats have not been sold as season tickets ,there will be empty seats in e2 ?”
“correct ”
…..8 August 2010 at 6:00 pm #41854I requested info on season tickets months ago, got it yesterday, I also planned to pay by dd and now won’t be getting one.
Where did you want to sit, c2 ?
8 August 2010 at 6:27 pm #41858Last season, I did a bit of digging and was stunned to find out that when you see the empty seats in our ground, actually some of them are filled.
No, seriously! I’m not talking about a load of ‘Borrowers’ taking up the seats. What happens is that a lot of these ‘ticket agencies’ actually buy blocks of tickets off Latics……in order to re-sell them at a vastly inflated rate. Funnily enough, these seats tend to be filled with people for such likes as Chelsea or Liverpool. But when we play someone like Bolton, the seats remain empty. (Funny eh?) If thee or me offered a ticket at a vastly inflated rate (and I’ve seen £300+) then we would be classed as TOUTS. Yet when these companies do it online, it is classed as ‘business’
I know this, because I used to have 3 seats just to my right which always had different people in, or would be empty for the ‘lesser’ matches.
Also, a mate of mine works at Asda warehouse. He told me yesterday that he’s “won tickets for Wigan V Newcastle this season”. I said “How have you managed that, when it’s not til Christmas time?” He told me that Asda have bought some season tickets and they raffle them off for different individuals use in the sports and social club they have.
Fact is folks, Latics, or at least the ticket office, do NOT care about ‘bums on seats’, as long as the tickets are ‘sold’. Truth is, when we play the ‘lesser’ teams in the Premiership, the empty seat in front of you might actually have been sold…….but there’s just nobody bothered to come and sit in it.
I wonder if Latics actually realise how much these ‘agents’ make on ticket ‘re-sales’? I always thought the tickets were not transferable? Or do they actually just not care? Surely it DOES constitute touting? What is different from you selling a ticket for 5 times the face value on Ebay or the internet? Nothing.8 August 2010 at 7:34 pm #41866This happens at most grounds in the prem, not just Wigan.
I have been to see Wigan at Anfield and Old trafford in seats that companies we buy materials off, have given to me.
As you say people don’t want to see the lesser games i.e. Wigan but I do.
Must say it is not very enjoyable, as you are sat with the home fans, who especially at old trafford are a set of tossers.
