Nah, He is one of those United players they get from time to time that get carried by the rest of the team. Butt, P Neville, Gibson, Sharpe, Carrick, Richardson, Bellion, Kleberson, Manucho, Djemba Djemba, Obertan. Put those type of player in any other side and they look extremely average and soon disappear.

Bit harsh some of them. Lee Sharpe was a decent player. Nicky Butt was always considered the ‘star’ of that ’92 youth team as well.
I remember another one……Ralph Milne. Signed back in about 1989. Good pro, Scottish winger.

You dont half talk some shyte you.
P Neville would look extremely average in any other side? :silly:
Have you seen him for Everton? He’s been captain fantastic for the best part of ten years!!!

Wobble Wobble – dont like you very much.[/quote]
Just because Neville is a good “leader”.. doesn’t make him a great player.
He is far, far from being a great player – he’s just versatile.
The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” springs to mind.
I actually agree with the most part of Yosser’s post.
Welbeck isn’t a good player – how he can be considered international quality is beyond me.
Put it this way, if he was in our side – playing EXACTLY the same as he has for United in the past 12 months or so – he wouldn’t be in the England squad.
He gets picked because he’s a United player – and that automatically makes him worthy of an England call up (apparently).
Despite the fact he is a very average, bit-part player.

TBH my post was just an impression of the girly dig he had at me earlier in the year.
No Phil Neville is no Christiano Ronaldo but I think if you ask any Evertonian they will consider him a great player and adds the sort of metal to a team that I dont think we have had since Cattermole left.
As for the rest :
Nicky Butt : 2002 World Cup – World class performance !
Sharpe – Quality player who unfortunately liked to party a bit too much and got him in trouble with Ferguson.
Carrick – Most underappreciated midfielder in the history of the PL and is a massive player for Man Utd and has been for years!
Bellion, Kleberson, Manucho, Djemba Djemba, Obertan – All these hardly got carried at united they were crap while they were at the club.
Putting Butt’s World Cup performance aside he might have a point on Nicky Butt, Richardson & Gibson.
But I would have both Richardson and Gibson here tomorrow given the choice.
Not a very productive post but I kind of agree. Very average.
He looked average at Sunderland too. Nto good enough for Utd OR England. Don’t think he has much time left at UTD, but as someone stated earlier that he is better than our forwards so I would take him here ;)
That being said, he isn’t bad to play with on FIFA ;)

Have to disagree sorry Spaulding. Capt Fantastic? He may be Capt but NOT fantastic. Have seen numerous Everton games (Against us amongst others) and he has never stood out, just looks average.

Never rated Welbeck, and there is truth in you get picked for England depending on which club you play for.
Not sure about Carrick though, he is a good passer of the ball..
