When the Chinese pulled the plug we did not actually owe anything. They withdrew all future funding.Strictly speaking we did not actually have to immediately go into administration. It was on the advice of our admin team ( I wonder why ?).Could Royle and Jackson not have approached the EFL to ask for say one month to find a new owner ? I might be talking complete nonsense here but surely that would have been a better solution.

The Chinese wanted to liquidate us and were advised to put us into admin as they would get some money back.

They actually gave no notice of administration, the first anyone at the club knew about it was the afternoon before Stanley, Watson and Krasner walked into the stadium. I was sat in JJ’s office 11am that morning, where he told all that had gone on in the previous 36 hours, including him begging for them to not put us in administration as we would find a buyer if they gave a bit of time. This was something they had been planning for months I feel…….. The EFL actually knew about it before JJ, as the admins had already contacted them…..
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

The admin keep telling us we would have been easier to sell as a Championship club.Don’t forget the squad and assets we had at the time made us a lot more attractive to buyers.I just think it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction ( probably encouraged by the admin ).They could have got their money back had we been sold .As I say ,if no buyer after a month then put us into administration. It was all too rushed.

Sounds to me like the EFL and the admin have an awful lot of explaining to do regarding what was the right course of action for Wigan Athletic. As we know it will all be swept under the carpet and no one will be held accountable.
30 January 2021 at 10:16 pm #190744Who cares bar fans ??, and thats the problem. Nandy mouths off every blue moon, the EFL and Admin answer to no one we are basically cast to sea and left to be dismantled in a disgusting way.
Had someone come in early doors they could have cleared the decks and made a healthy profit. And now we are releasing young players due to the 23 man ruling regarding 1st team appearances.
Were are all these big time Charlie’s??
Fcukin all mouth no trousers and as for Whelan sat on £200million watching us drown. His statue will look abit out of place in the middle of a housing estate -
