Hopefully more kids will get hooked and bring their mates along to balance things out, the one’s that would have been United or Liverpool 10 years ago.
I’m with Fil on this one. I don’t see anything to suggest we should be optimistic that crowds will increase next year.
I hope they do, but I can’t see why they would.[/quote]
Last season the clubs entire focus was on selling season tickets, this at a time when money was already tight, while there was widespread disillusionment about all aspects of the club.
On top of that match to match marketing and promotions seemed non-existent until the 3 for £30 offer kicked in, and were still patchy thereafter.
There is no single area that will see crowds increase significantly, we need small improvements in all departments.
There is no reason why we should not attract 20k+ against Utd, Liverpool and Everton, as we did against Arsenal. That alone would have seen our average crowd approach 18,500 this season.
Bring in another couple of hundred season ticket holders with the family and U21 season tickets, and the club would already be looking at averaging closer to 19k than 18k, all realistic goals IMO.
