Since our fate will be decided tomorrow night…These 2 lads ever gonna be playing for us again or are we gonna cut our loses and save wages and bring fresh players in, Would like to see them stay and given a chance!
Should of played these two instead of loaning them out because lets be honest they could not have done any worse
Riera scored the equaliser for Deportivo against Malaga at weekend, the game finished 1-1.
I don’t think he was given enough time TBH by Rosler, he looked like he was improving quite well, then was abandoned for some reason.
He’s scored 4 goals this season in 16 games, so not pulling up trees, but that ratio still puts him ahead of anything we’ve got.Not sure about Delort, but again, given no game time after being thrown in too soon at the Blackburn game at Ewood.

So many this season it could not have been written. If it had been written it would have taken a really obscure mind to have thought this seasons goings on out from last July.
If all the factors for a suicide season where would the count be now? Into the 50s or 60s.

The stats show though that they aren’t/weren’t the answer. Quite what the answer is we will never know because we’ve had a goal scoring problem for about 9 years. Being a club of our size is probably the answer. We have to sign players who may or may not settle in and if they do they’re off as quick as they came in.
I’d have liked to have seen them played together or one of them alongside Fortune, but I’d also liked us to have signed Patrick Bamford or Britt Assombalonga.

You are right we’ll never know if those 2 would have been the answer but it would be hard to imagine us not scoring more goals with them both in the team or one of them or Waghorn partnering the much maligned Fortune. Rather than getting in Sinclair, never used, McKay never to be good enough, don’t talk to me about Clarke. We’ve wasted so many opportunities to try something that might work, over something that wasn’t ever working.
The hard facts are we tried to reduce our wage bill far too early imo, to scrape up and consolidate as a Championship side possibly to bring the loanees back next season. Then our chairman left us.

It’s all down to how you use him. For Deportiva he plays in a 4-4-2 formation whilst while he was here he was predominantly used as a lone striker! It’s all about tweaking and fine tuning with players and formations and in my opinion Riera wasn’t given the right conditions to bring out the best in him! I still find it quite strange how some fans call players who were not given enough time to prove themselves yet support players who have had more than enough chances yet have proved to be completely ineffective when it comes to scoring goals!

Agreed.
I think it is too much of a coincidence that all our strikers have suddenly become useless. The blame lies with the manager/coaching staff on their game plan and formations. Wolves were also after Delort so someone else could see a player in him yet he is here 5 mins and he is binned. Holt and Fortune tho both never prolific have scored in the Premier league but here they cannot hit a cows arse with a banjo. Waghorn I feel for coz he has been expected to be a fill in player only used rarely but has been under pressure to deliver without having regular match sharpness. Billy McKay, well fook knows what is going on there. Riera wasn’t given time to adjust but he and Delort may in time come to the party as long as we change direction from this brand of football.
Riera may well be more effective in the Spanish league but you cannot expect him to produce the same level of performance in the Championship playing a style and system to which he is just not suited.
Similar thing with Delort except he was being asked to step up the equivalent of about three divisions.
So why sign them in the first place?
