Play the first team in the replay, spank them and then play the same team at Macclesfield. We have a strong chance here to reach the 5th round and if the draw is kind who knows what can happen. Look at Portsmouth the other year. Didn’t play a single side ranked above them.

Winning becomes a habit (as does losing) which is why I don’t get why we use the tired excuse. I’ve never heard a player in a winning team say he’s tired. Were our players tired in 2002/03 when they played 46 league games and still played in the cup against WBA, City, Fulham and Blackburn? No they weren’t.

Shouldn’t need to play the whole first team in the replay. Just slightly less of the kids/fringe players would do it, just as it would have on Saturday.

But I agree that this is an excellent chance to progress. And we really don’t ened to change the tactics as Donny and Horc suggest. All about opinions lads, but if you prefer the dross under Hutchings and Bruce to this, then fair play to you.

If that doesn’t bring LMB and Tyldesley out, I don’t know what will.

You know that is not going to happen egg with games either side of that fixture against Fulham and Sunderland points are more vital in the league than the cup sorry to say but there you have it

They are yes, but why does it have to be one or the other?

Because I’m sure we all remember how dull and boring it was March – May last season.

      Especially that Newcastle game. Yawn.

Yes, nothing but sideways and backwards passing.

It’s ok constantly referring to how Wigan played in last seasons run in but that was an enigma and has in no way whatsoever been replicated since, why is this ? It is a mystery to me ! This season has been poor on the whole and there is very little evidence performance wise to counter my observation ! Something is not right and I just think that some of the excuses are feeble. Opinion mind !!

Something is defo not right in my opinion there as been not much change in the attacking style of the game it is the defensive part of the field that as let us down a lot this season conceding soft goals as been and continues to be the problem not many teams have had to work too hard to score goals against us maybe not having a settled defence for the whole first half of the season could be the problem only two clean sheets out of twenty games is not good enough

If I had to pick one thing that has gone wrong for us this season it is the lack of supply from our two wing backs.

Beausajor has been in poor form ever since he came back from his early season injury and seems to be suffering from a serious lack in confidence although I think he is gradually getting a bit better each game although very gradually at best I admit.

The biggest effect in 2012 on the team was having most of our CB’s injured which meant Boyce had to go to CB.

Stam is terrible he cannot defend or cross a ball which are the two essential parts of his game!!

I read a Bournemouth blog that was suprised how well their LW did for them saying he played the best game he ever has for Bournemouth.

I agree with them and it says a lot about Stam.

Hopefully with our CB’s getting back to full fitness and a bit of a rest for Jeany B we might see a bit more effect from him and Boyce in the coming PL matches which is essential IMO if Boselli is to be the man playing up front.

The above combined with Alcaraz hopefully returning to full fitness then this leaky defence might tighten up enough to see us to a decent pick up of points for 2013.

Just so I dont get accused of talking sh*t and having blue tinted specs on again I will add the following alternative statement for the benefit of Les Miserables.

Martinez out! he is a spanish clown! Boselli is crap! Sack Whelan he is a thief! Shoot the kids!

And back on the original subject it is a fantastic draw.

I am not going to hold my breath that we will get through as I dont think Martinez will risk more senior players for the replay and rightly so.

It will be just a tough a game as the first but hopefully a rocket will be fire up certain players arses and they can do what is expected of them.

I dont get to many away games but If we get through I would love to go to Mcclesfield with it being faily local and hopefully see their manager cry for the wrong reasons instead of good ones :side:

I was just referring to the last season’s run in response to people saying our style of play is boring.

It isn’t always, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be. When it clicks, it works brilliantly well and I’d rather watch a team playing well with our style of play than one playing well with kick and rush tactics.

A couple of things summed some of our supporters up for me on Saturday. One bloke near me was screaming for them to stop with this all this ‘possession rubbish’ and get it forwards, then was on his feet again when it was lumped forward and they lost possession, and when Stam miscontrolled the ball and it when into touch, someone jumped up and called Martinez a ‘dick head’.

Incidentally, the one who called Martinez a ‘dick head’ was the same one who also hurled abuse at Gomez saying ‘You should have put that penalty away first time’.

To be fair, the last time I commented on Martinez as a manager (just before Xmas) I said somet along the lines of “it’s taken me a while but I do believe that we have the right manager in charge of our football club” – and that’s the club as a whole & not just the 1st team.
That’s not to say that I think he no longer makes any mistakes, doesn’t sign some dud players or that I agree with everything he does but I don’t believe that there’s anyone else out there who could safeguard the long term future of the playign side of the club under the financial restraints the club has.

Anyway as for Hutchings & Bruce – Hutchings was $h!te & clueless & I don’t believe that I ever said anything else about him from the moment i got back from honeymoon which was about 3 games into the season.
Steve Bruce I liked & I liked the way he had his team set up to play football. The way he had already turned round Hutchings side before he had the chance to add any of his own players in deserves commending & I thought some of the football in the first 6 months of that full season he was here was outstanding. It started to go pear shaped when Whelan ripped the heart out of his team against Bruce’s wishes & I think the motivation of both the players remaining & Bruce himself plummeted coz the stuff in the remaining 4 months of the season was tepid at best.
And yes Bruce did fill the fringes of his squad with some absolute garbage (his fault) & yes he did have the club running up a wage bill that was unsustainable however he was only operating on the transfer & salary budgets that Whelan told him he could have so that wasn’t really his fault

If somebody actually said/shouted that then it must be a joke. Nobody with any braincells would make a comment like that seriously. The ONLY reason for anybody making that comment would be if it was said in jest.

You’d like to think so, but he wasn’t joking. Three of us turned and looked at him in unison after he’d said it, and think he then realised what a tw@t he’d sounded.

The worrying thing was, he wasn’t even drunk and was old enough to know better.
