5 Live talking about how when he was 7 towards the end of the war he found a penny in Wigan near the train station and wanted to see what it was like to get a bus for the first time.
Just as he got on, a Tommy joined him and sat opposite. He told how he admired the gun he was holding. They got talking…and it turned out they were both going to the same street…the same house

“im your dad you have never seen”You could hear DW’s voice cracking and going trembly.
Its the most he has ever spent on anything and it was clearly still getting to him.
We are still better with him than without.
Im still looking forward to the rest of the season
I also heard this but I thought he could thrown a punchline in to liven it up a bit.

‘Yes..(trembling lips) are…you..my (sob)….dad?’
‘No you daft pr1ck. Your dad got killed in an air-raid on Tuesday, and I’m just on my way round to tell your mum.’
