A home game is all you can ask for, will be interesting to see if it attracts the crowds
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
25 August 2021 at 10:56 pm #193632Mutty might come if he isn’t helping his daughter move.
Be nice for him to see a Wigan team score at home.
25 August 2021 at 11:19 pm #193633I’ll be there, cant wait for this one, bring it on!
Fuck the EFL
26 August 2021 at 1:10 am #193634Personally I wanted a beer friendly away so I’m disappointed.
In another season this would be an exciting draw but this year it’s another game for the reserves.
26 August 2021 at 7:25 am #193635Sunderland Reserves away at Sunderland rejects. Not the draw the fans were hoping for.
The positives are that neither side will have one eye on this tie over the next 3 weeks, so it will hopefully not impact with the respective league campaigns in the way hosting Liverpool or a trip to Spurs would have done.
26 August 2021 at 8:19 am #193637Totally agree our reserves v their reserves. Not even worth getting excited over yet. Long gone are the days when the best 11 were on show regardless if it was the FA, League, Watney or Anglo Scottish cups.
26 August 2021 at 12:20 pm #193638Never that good when its a team from the same division other than you might progress to next round more easily.
Wanted Everton or Liverpool as it would have been another local derby and there was something great at seeing the lively Bolton away support the other night which created a great atmosphere.
A bit disappointing especially as Blunderland have a fairly decent record at our place historically.28 August 2021 at 11:51 am #193676Very disappointed was hoping for a big club

Yeah, I came for this one. Even the two lads with the drums didnt stay much longer than the 70th minute, I did find it amusing that their rapid beat suddenly turned to a funeral-style single beat as Luke O’Nien swept the 2nd goal in.
21 September 2021 at 10:27 pm #194061I think the lineups showed that it isn’t the priority for either of us.
Well done to Sunderland, but I wouldn’t swap a win tonight over finishing above them in the league.

I think our line up in particular showed the game was not a priority for us. Expected a stronger bench at least. A comprehensive defeat ,outplayed from start to finish .
21 September 2021 at 11:06 pm #194066I think the line ups showed that Wigan would struggle with an injury crisis.
21 September 2021 at 11:11 pm #194068You are spot on there Mutts. Latics were outclassed tonight. Looks like the Sunderland squad is much stronger than ours on that showing.

Come on mate, you’re better than gloating over a league cup win.
Then again.
22 September 2021 at 12:38 am #194072No gloating from me Eggy. The big prize comes at the end of April. Even though I have neck ache looking at you perched on the top of the table, I am more confident tonight than I was last night that we have a squad packed full of young, hungry players with an element of skill to boot, that will do a damn sight better than the old plodders from last season. Not a single signing was made from a L1 or L2 club this summer. Ive endured three seasons of signing old knackers under the auspices of “knowing the league”, “proven quality at this level” and its gotten us nowhere, so signing a squad full of players from Man City, Spurs, Leeds, Everton & Bayern Munich instead of Walsall, Rochdale & Bury is a step in the right direction.
