In over 40 yrs as a Latics fan there have not been too many times when ive been ashamed but tonight i am. I also fear we will have to endure plenty more embarrasing moments this season. Ive always been Mr Whelans staunchest supporter but i feel that our selling policy will finally catch up with us this season.
27 August 2009 at 1:58 am #6808It isn’t a policy it’s a necessity and anyone who tries to kid you otherwise is on a different planet

27 August 2009 at 2:06 am #6814What an inept performance.
Only players to come out of that with any credit are Sinclair, Diame, and the two late subs Thomas and Rodalegga.27 August 2009 at 2:07 am #6816It isn’t a policy it’s a necessity and anyone who tries to kid you otherwise is on a different planet

27 August 2009 at 2:09 am #6820Sinclair looked quality.
Watson and Boyce were very poor.
27 August 2009 at 2:11 am #6821Hard to judge him on that Griff…..would have been better for him if Scharner hadn’t kept going awol and passing to orange shirts again all night, putting eveyone under pressure.

27 August 2009 at 2:14 am #6825Stop thinking we are some big time club, we aren’t. We have a very low income compared to many of the clubs out there and we simply can’t afford to compete with some of the bigger clubs.
We would be very lucky if we are debt free by the end of the season so I ask you “where are the funds coming from?”. If, however, we were debt free then I guess that shows what a good business head Whelan has on him.
If you are expecting Whelan to subbie us from his own pockets then why should he? His comments about being a self sustaining club were (I don’t like saying this) spot on. If a business is not capable of looking after itself without some millionaire benefactor constantly bailing them out then they are not a viable business and will be shut down. Is that what you want?
He’s trying to find a solution for us to remain at this level and be viable. If it doesn’t work then don’t moan because without him our natural level would be 2nd, 3rd, conference.
Punching above our weight, getting some big time charlie scalps along the way and pissing sky sports and other broadcasters off is enough for now.
The reality is we will end up in the lower divisions again soon enough so just enjoy it whilst you’re here.
27 August 2009 at 2:17 am #6826Sensible post that man

The book signing as nothing to do with wafc, Would be more interesting if he would call a fans forum, to tell the fans face to face whats going on , instead of speaking to the telegraph, saying that the fans are happy. make it happen jayt :)27 August 2009 at 2:19 am #6828I never said it was but their is a chance to ask him instead of spouting shite on here

Depends how you ask him. If you come across all Liam Gallagher – as I suspect you would – of course he won’t.
Try having a reasoned debate with him. I bet you’ll lose. Not because he’s right but because the first tim you don’t agree with him you’ll call him a c*** and you’ll look like a chump.
And he’ll probably refuse to sign your book
