Not many tickets sold for the CC match…Wigan rugby v Cas 5.30pm this Saturday, the reason was because if England would have topped the group they would have played at 5pm Saturday.
All the loyal rugby fans pffft can go and get their tickets now England play Monday 8pm, bumper crowd of 7000 on at the DW on Saturday? Rugby town my arse!

      Fuck the EFL

7,000 would be a reasonable crowd with the time, the opposition, and the fact it is on BBC when a Euro 2016 game featuring a home nation is on. Despite your one-eyed view, many rugby fans do actually follow football too.

Can you tell me the last time any knockout cup match at the DW that was live on TV attracted more than 9000?

(I also note that you only lasted one trolling post on RL fans before your arse was kicked into touch – its a shame the WEP don’t adopt that approach with trolls.)

And there we have it, Mutty admits Wigan is a football town not a rugby town.

Took a while but we got there

Here we go! Every time the slutch rats expect or get a low attendance they have always some excuse…Time of kick off, played on a Thursday night, Springwatch or a Snooker final on telly FFS!

There never ever seems to be an ideal day or kick off time that suits the majority, and if you would rather watch a home CC Quarter final on BBC with drab commentary instead of going to the rented football ground to support your team then they are not fans at all!

Lets hope Cas kick Wigan rugby’s ass!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I chose my words carefully. “Knockout Cup match”. Not “Rugby knockout cup match”.

The answer to my question Bullshit, was 2012, when Wigan hosted Saints. If I’d asked the same question of the football, it would have been 2006 (Over TEN years ago), when 12,181 showed up for a semi-final with Arsenal, which included 4,000 visiting fans.

The facts are quite clear that the 2013 FA Cup winners cannot, nor ever have been able to, attract five-figure home support to a cup fixture, let alone a televised cup fixture.

Now, jog on over to RL Fans for another 5 minutes of fame before you get kicked off.

Wrong again Mutty, you really should do a bit more homework before spouting off.
Below is a report from a 2010 Carling Cup 4th round match against a team about 180 miles away. It was a midweek fixture so its doubtful they brought any more than a couple of hundred.

            http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wigan-2-0-swansea-mauro-boselli-3349669

“There was enough life in the Swansea side to keep their 4,500 fans happy, with Darren Pratley shining in particular and looking potential Premier League class as he exploted the wide-open space.”

There was also a report in the guardian of a delayed kick off due to an accident on the M6 which delayed the Swansea fans and gave fear to a crush at the turnstiles – not something that would happen with only a couple of hundred.

            https://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/oct/26/wigan-athletic-swansea-city-carling-cup

My maths puts that at approx. 7000 home fans.

Sorry to rain on your parade again, but I get my ducks in a row before I state something as “fact”. I’ve been telling Bullshit this for ages.

Very unlikely there would have been 4500 Swansea fans there, but even if it were true you are still wrong with your original post as the attendance was well in to five figures.
Do your homework son before commenting, it might just stop you looking like a complete twat instead of just a partial one.

Ermmm I think you will find That Wigan Ath hold the post war record attendance for a non league game when 27000 watched the FA cup tie against Hereford United. A crowd estimated at around 30000 saw non league Latics lose to Newcastle United in an FA cup replay after a draw at Sid James Park in 1953. So never have been able to mutt.

Ste, I have every confidence that Mutty will soon be back to apologise and admit he was wrong.

I’m almost positive there was 4000 or so Swansea as it was the first time they’d had a chance to play against Martinez since he left them. They gave him plenty all night.
I’m also sure there was about 1500 Arsenal there for that semi final when the lights went off.

                  #149107

I’m pretty certain that the cup run that set the record saw 25000 plus at 3 games v Torquay Hereford and Milwall who put us out. All local sides just like the Klumps play against.

It doesn’t really matter either way Tez, the fact is Mutty was wrong as proved also by Nuneaton. He will be along soon to apologise and admit he was wrong.

Your failing memory versus a newspaper report taken from that night in question – no real choice there. And 11,700 is hardly comfortably into double figures. And it wasn’t on TV.

But I will accept that over 60 years ago at another ground, the Latics got a five-figure crowd for a home cup game. Similarly the rugby got nearly 50,000 on Central Park many moons ago too. The fact still remains that its a bloody long time since the Wigan public turned up in large numbers at the DW for any sporting fixture not covered by a Season Ticket.

Edit – No need for language like that sir
