All the groups in the World Cup have 1 good side, 1 half decent side and two no hopers.
Can somebody tell me why Englands group has 4 no hopers?

I think I am old enough and wise enough not to fall for the spin and clichés. Spirit of 66 blah blah blah and all the other stuff that is repeated in every major tournament England are in. the sheeple swallow it hook line and sinker every time. the reality is we are not good enough and as soon as we come up against a fancied team in the knock out stages we will get knocked out like we have every single time since 1970

We’ve played one game and that’s against the strongest opponents in the, albeit, weakest group. We drew and our entire tournament and chances have fallen apart – not quite, I’d say.

There have been many slow starters who have gone on to great things in the World Cup. We drew with ROI, a comparable fixture to USA in 1990, and went on to get cruelly knocked out in the semis.

We might not get that far this time, who knows, but I wouldn’t hang too much on yesterday’s game, where I thought we played quite well anyway against very tidy opposition.

It’s amazing that the same people that can somehow can find positives in the most bleak WAFC results and performances have already thrown in the towel with England after a half decent draw.

I think your getting me and horc mixed up with some else as I never found positives in some of the diabolical performances last season. I think the same applies to horc as well. i am been realistic and I think the quarter finals is are mark. the semi’s would be great. I want England to do well but there is no way we are going to win it. I hope I am wrong but I don’t think I am :)

The run-in after the groups is going to see us play the likes of Germany/Serbia, Argentina/France, Brazil/Portugal and Spain. While I must admit that’s the way I’d want to win the world cup the realist in me knows that it won’t happen.

We can still win the group, I think but it’s highly unlikely.

You’ll have to point out exactly where I said I thought we’d win the World Cup.

              #37905

you never said we would win it I agree but you was saying lets not worry its only one game. England are in the weakest group and surely after that abomination tonight you can not make excuses. feelings are running high and i apologize for any misunderstanding. I am sure your as narked as I am by that tonight?

Narked doesn’t even begin to describe it.

if your the same banjostring from the old cl forum I remember you was in to your horse racing the same as me. I get more excitement from having a bet on the nags then having to watch england when there not even bothered like they was tonight.

I don’t imagine there’s that many banjostrings out there and, yes, I am the same one.

Don’t bet on the nags much now, virtually impossible to win. Have a bet on the footie though. Football matches are always three horse races and though the odds are much lower, there’s more chance of getting it right. Not in this World Cup, mind, where results have been all over the place.

Poker’s the game. At least you have some control over how you lose your money ( ) and a good part of the return’s the enjoyment you get out of it ;)

PS England WILL beat Slovenia ;)

I hope they do beat them mate. place betting on 6,7 runner races on betfair when your getting a over i.e.: better then quarter the odds as the high street bookies pay for each way(tote you do not know what it will pay until after race). if a 2nd fav is 3-1 on betfair and its paying evens on betfair for the place and your confident it will come in 1st 2 then that’s a value bet. poker i have never played it on-line so I know nothing about it.

You don’t want to play online poker… I do it a lot and lose more than I win..>Too full of bad beats etc. Live poker is where it is at…Win way more than I lose playng live.

95% of people who play online lose, that’s a fact, but like I said, part of the price you pay is for the enjoyment you get.

I play live poker too and I win more live than I do online. That’s because 99% of players online are decent players and are tougher to beat. Playing ‘have a go’ players in pubs is like shooting fish in a barrel, some of the hands they play and bet are unbelievable.

As far as bad beats go, there are just as many crazy things happen on a live table as they do online. Anyone who blames bad beats for losing online is usually a poor player.
