Shaping up nicely now that all 7 direct entrants to the Group stages have been decided.
The group stages have 31 teams who will have come through from the play-off round (entrants at that stage include Kiev, Fiorentina, Feyenoord, Spartak, Alkmaar), 10 losers from the Champions League play-off round, and the other 7 teams who enter directly at that stage: Valencia, Bordeaux, Lazio, Anzhi, Freiburg, Guimaraes, and of course Latics :)
12 June 2013 at 3:44 pm #115893What date does the actual draw for the group stages take place?
Championship fixtures a week today :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Hoping to quadruple my away days this season.
12 June 2013 at 4:14 pm #11589612 June 2013 at 5:01 pm #11589848 teams play in the group stage.
The 48 teams will be allocated into four pots based on their 2013 UEFA club coefficients. They will be drawn into twelve groups of four, with the restriction that teams from the same association cannot be drawn against each other.
Wigan Athletic have a club coefficient – somehow – of 16.592.
The other teams who have qualified;
Valencia CC: 102.605
Bordeaux CC: 59.800
Lazio CC: 41.829
Anzhi Makhachkala CC: 20.266
Freiburg CC: 15.922
Vitória de Guimarães CC: 14.33312 June 2013 at 5:12 pm #115902We get the 16.592 by virtue of being English. There are two parts to the calculation – some points based on country (20% of the English coefficient) and some based on previous European results. We obviously have none of the latter, so start with 20% of the English coefficient.
Surprisngly Germany have a lower national coefficient than England which explains how we have a higher figure than Freiburg, and also than Guimaraes of Portugal.
12 June 2013 at 6:47 pm #115907That sounds like we’ll be drawn in a pot with Freiburg and Guimares which is a bit of a pisser tbh
Saying that I’d take Bordeaux and Valencia for away days any day of the week
12 June 2013 at 7:51 pm #115910Thanks, garswood.
So Swansea have the same (English) coefficient of 16.592.
The Welsh representatives are;
Prestatyn Town CC: 0.516
Airbus UK Broughton CC: 0.516
Bala Town CC: 0.51612 June 2013 at 10:43 pm #115919That sounds like we’ll be drawn in a pot with Freiburg and Guimares which is a bit of a pisser tbhSaying that I’d take Bordeaux and Valencia for away days any day of the week
No – we’ll probably be in a pot with them, which means we won’t play them. We’ll play one of the top 12 at least.
12 June 2013 at 11:13 pm #115924My dream (though wholly possible) group would be:
Ajax
Palermo
Wigan Athletic

LimassolSounds good to me…Amsterdam without the Mrs this time :lol:

I’ve been to Guimares. Not much there, but Porto is an hour away it’s a fantastic city.13 June 2013 at 12:19 pm #115958I’m half Sicilian, I’ll be half ok, don’t know about the rest of you though!If you’re only half OK, I don’t know about the rest of YOU!

Saying that probably not the ideal place to hang up a ‘Ashton Goons On Tour’ flag -
