I know this is jumping the gun but if the draw is kind today then we could very well be looking at European football next season regardless of the result in the final given the teams left in it.
10 March 2013 at 2:15 pm #104838I’m trying not to jump the gun vince, but i was thinking the same thing myself this morning. Do what roberto says – 1 game at a time.
10 March 2013 at 4:19 pm #104848I’m trying not to jump the gun vince, but i was thinking the same thing myself this morning. Do what roberto says – 1 game at a time.Martinez keeps saying he will take the club to the next level and if he can stay up and win this semi final he may well do that.
that said he really needs to look at his squad now and make some changes for the next game against Nocupscastle.
I would play the new goalie and,Mcmannaman to freshen it up however I think we wilrecord our first home win for nearly four months next week regardless.
A very very exciting time for the club and a week is most certainly a long time at this football club isn’t it?10 March 2013 at 7:30 pm #104872I am pretty sure that we have to win the cup to get into Europe next season, they changed the rule (I think) after Millwall got in a few years ago when they lost to Man Utd.
10 March 2013 at 7:45 pm #104873My understanding of it is:
If the winner of the FA cup is already qualified for Champions League the Europa spot goes to the runner up of the FA Cup i.e. the losers in the final.
If both finalists are qualified for Champions League it goes to the next ranking Premier League team.
So if we draw Blackburn/Milwall today we are within touching distance.
10 March 2013 at 7:55 pm #104875My thoughts also SL.

10 March 2013 at 8:11 pm #104879From the Premier League’s site.
Should we reach the final and play a team already qualified then we would be in.

Are you saying that we aint got a prayer if we draw City, Chelsea or Utd ? Now that is being negative in my book ! ;)
10 March 2013 at 8:31 pm #104883If we draw one of them it means Blackburn or Millwall are in the other semi.
If (and I know it’s a big if) they win that semi then if we play them in the final the runner-up won’t qualify.

Not at all!
Realistically though if we get either manc team its going to be a bigger challenge than two (in all fairness) crap teams from the championship.
All will be known soon.

It’s a nailed on certainty that we will not draw Blackburn/Millwall in the semi – you don’t think the FA are going to allow their dream final (utd v city) bite the dust at the semi final stage.
