10 March 2013 at 11:03 pm #104909I cannot believe that Little Wigan are, potentially, now 90 mins away from European Football. That alone will be a MASSIVE draw for potential signings & could be the difference between signing for Wigan & West Ham for example  ;)
10 March 2013 at 11:05 pm #104911It’s a nailed on certainty that we will not draw Blackburn/Millwall in the semi – you don’t think the FA are going to allow their dream final (utd v city) bite the dust at the semi final stage.Genius. How right you were
10 March 2013 at 11:25 pm #104915If we do manage to get to europe, just think, bobby possibly wont get lured away to another club & most of our out of contract players will sign new ones. In addition, european football will more than likely attract a better standard of player to wigan.
However, lets get past blackburn or millwall first.

10 March 2013 at 11:44 pm #104919So true Runcorn at least it is now in our hands & we have THE best chance to make it to Europe now.
Who was it said Whelan was going senile for wanting us to be playing in Europe within a few years??
10 March 2013 at 11:57 pm #104924European football would impose an enormous burden on Wigan.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City can all field different teams in midweek games. Even with their relatively large squad, Newcastle are struggling in the league this season, just as Stoke and Fulham struggled before them.
Wigan simply do not have the resources to compete in both the Premier League and the Europa Cup. It’s not something that I would welcome.
10 March 2013 at 11:58 pm #104925Correct taz. Good to see a lot of the old school guys on a Europe tour .fuckin buzzing .

11 March 2013 at 12:44 am #104940I really don’t understand this pressure thing.
So, professional footballers being paid millions a year may need to play two games in a week instead of one. Occasionally. With a bit of continental travel thrown in. While raising their profile to attract the eye of top European clubs.
So how is that pressure then?
I think there may be a lot of people in the stands who would do that for nothing, given half the chance.
11 March 2013 at 12:47 am #104942That’s what I tried to say .
11 March 2013 at 12:52 am #104943Survival in the Premier League is a real struggle. Wigan now stand three points away from safety, with QPR gaining on them fast. And Aston Villa play QPR next weekend.
The matches against Manchester City and Swansea have been postponed. Should Wigan get to the final, the game at Arsenal will have to be rearranged too. The final game against Aston Villa – which could be crucial to both clubs – is the week after the cup final.
Martinez is right – Wigan already have ten cup finals to play this season. Survival is going to be a real challenge – and safety is by no means guaranteed. I simply can’t imagine how Wigan would cope with the extra burden of games in Europe too.
11 March 2013 at 1:08 am #104947wigan Europe dreams wake up pal.
