Very pleased with what I saw…..early days but some nice football on show. I thought Smith looked class, comfortable on the ball and chased when off it. Humphreys looked a threat and the subs all looked ace. Only a friendly I know but a strong Everton team looked like relegation fodder to me.

Everton only returned to pre season training on 7 July. That might have something to do with their performance.

      Latics return was 22 June.

I never read too much into friendlies. There played just to try out new players, positions, and formations out nothing else.

As for blaming not been fit? FFS pal give it a rest will ya. Both sides didn’t exert themselves so you can’t read into it.

We looked like we’re definitely heading down the possesion trail rather than getting it forward asap. Sometimes we looked like we took that one touch too many but overall we looked good.

Tbh, I don’t give a flying fcuk about the opposition in a friendly, it’s about how we look and bringing players together.

Never mentioned fitness. More to do with effort and tactics, which evolve over time on the training pitch.

Well considering it’s a near identical Everton starting 11 (bar one) from last season and it will be the same this season I’m not sure what new “one trick pony” tactics Dyke can add to that performance yesterday other than effort so we’ll blame fitness hey
