You have a soft spot for Liverpool too then vat?

I take it you are a scouser as you seem to be sticking your neck out to defend them although you know deep down all scousers are mouthy and have the worst accent in the UK including that horrible welsh, scottish and irish slang sh*t!

The point of my post was to have a little dig at scousers and it seems to have worked a treat, all scousers react and it’s been no different here.

Well, you don’t know me, that’s obvious.

I’m as scouse as Terry Christian, mate.

        Nay, George Formby.

        P.S. Koppites are Gobshytes. :P

Alex you sound like a typical toddler.net small minded idiot!

People like you are the reason why i try to stay away from this board now just because you watch the team doesnt give you the right to disrespect the longstanding supporters or in fact the new ones. Il accept any fan new or old!

If you listen to accents in the ground you will find many supporters of Wigan Athletic have a slight scouse twang. In fact you will find that the real Wigan accent is a dying breed. As for having the worst accent youll find that around the world its very well thought of thanks to the Beatles and such like.

This is coming from a born and bred wiganer proud of coming from abram. The scousers could say we are all inbred woolybacks that chase eggs and sound like we are retarded (try listening to a proper wigan accent on the radio or tv and youll see what i mean). Would you expect Wiganers to react?

Where do you sit then? Are you part of the Es2 massive that seems to have jumped on the Bandwagon since we made it to the prem?

Ive actually been on the other side of this when i came to a corprate do at latics with some work colleagues from down south that follow spurs! We were moved out of the away stand corprate for a business link meeting and had to sit in the home stand with 4/5 spurs fans. When they celebrated the goal we had idiots telling us to shut up, and threatening them even though it wasnt their choice to sit were they had the club had moved us there. I explained this to the people and they accepted it however 2 women that sit near were my season ticket is and spend the game talking about Hospital appointments demanded they were escorted out by the stewards. I explained to the stewards and the ladies why they were sat there and the stewards had been made aware but asked that they didnt celebrate. The ladys still whinge when i see them now!

Now if a club sell out its allocation and the Wigan public decide they dont want to go to a game then im all for that, however to keep idiots like you from ruining it for people the club should arrange a section they can sit. However if the club sells to other fans without doing this then your complaint should be with the club not the fans in question especially if they have kids with them.

I personally would have a mixed stand rather than let you and your jumped up little mates into a game!

The ones that throw coins, or mouth off at fans that dont wear colours etc!

How have I disrespected our own fans? I was playing a joke with Vat as from previous posts people are claiming he’s an Evertonian and by mentioning the scouse accent I was seeing if he bit which I thought he did but obviously not as he claimed to be as scouse as George Formby ( ;) haha).

As for being part of the ES2 massive, no i’m not but I support what they do (getting an atmosphere going) and I have been watching Wigan since the age of 4 when I used to sit on my dad’s shoulders whilst he stood behing the goal at Springfield.

I have sat in the home end many times when watching wigan away, including spurs actually because my mates dad is a spurs fan and got us free tickets. I did however accept that we were in the wrong end an did not celebrate the goals (2 both scored by Andreas). Tell a lie, I went to the toilet both times and celebrated in the shi***r

Me and my jumped up little mates? Haha, so you are making a point that i’m being disrespectful to my own fellow fans but then you make that statement about me and my mates (I don’t go to the home games with my mates)??

I would be lying if I said I had never been involved in a football related scrap BUT we all have different opinions on the matter. You agree with away fans being in the home end even if they cheer, I agree that they can be there as long as they don’t cheer and other people will be of the opinion they shouldn’t be in the home end full stop.

                  Brilliant Faz, brilliant.

Football since ‘Football Factory’ and ‘Green Sheet’ is awash with wannabe Danny Dyer’s. F*ck off and get outta town! You’re making a joke out of yourselves. The way you described what happened to those Liverpool fans, was with such gusto. I bet when there was a scrap in your school you ran about shouting “Fight! Fight! Fight!”, didn’t you, Alex? See, the thing is, apart from a few ‘die-hards’ who should know better, hooliganism is dead and buried. These days, all the snidey Stone Island gang actually use Police shields to HIDE behind. That trouble at West Ham V Millwall, was to settle old scores. The old blokes came out….but even that was invaded by ‘wannabes’. The old boys have done the crime, done the time, and have had the books out of it. Full time. People go to Old Trafford, etc these days and it’s like a carnival. All nationalities walking about with ‘Megastore’ bags. At Anfield, last time I went, the queue for the store was longer than any for the stands. Yet I recall as late as 1992, I was outside Anfield with some mates, there was a game on, we didn’t go, and it was Liverpool V Chelsea. The area around Goodison was moody as anything upto the 90’s as well. It was no place for the lighthearted. It really pi**es the old-boys off when they see the gimps of today giving it ‘large’ in their £600 coat. Then they are going home to their mum and dads plush semi. It’s a joke.

But, for the sake of the game, the authorities got a grip of things, even putting an overkill on it with large Policing operations, and the advent of CCTV and improved intelligence. It became increasingly harder to be involved in organised violence. As soon as any group would gather….the riot squad would arrive.
But it’s a GOOD thing. Why? Because we live in a civilized society. We aren’t animals (most of us) we aren’t thugs (most of us), we just want to watch the game. Yes, support our team with passion. But why do we have to kick seven lumps of s*it out of opposition fans to do that? In the past it was more territorial, determined by national headlines (strikes, etc) and economic failings of the nation. (United & Liverpool originates from years ago and the perceived bypassing of Liverpool trade down the Manchester ship canal)
If we were to operate by those same guidelines, we’d all be ganging up on Poles and other immigrants, wouldn’t we? But that would be deemed Racist, to target someone because of their nationality, faith, or perceived belonging, wouldn’t it? So why wouldn’t picking on somone because of their choice of football loyalty? Is that not being Racist, as well?

These people who swan about now acting the big ‘I am’….just scumbags. Everybody should just turn on them. They’d be the first to disappear if we ever do go down. ES2 Massive? Ha Ha!!! What a joke. Swing a few digs at a daft scouser who’s been silly. Really impressive, that.
A lot of the gimps who have latched onto us, are one major reason why I don’t go away anymore. It’s embarrassing.

Mixed stands? Fair play to Fulham. But then again, apart from Chelsea, I don’t think they have anybody who really dislike them or are rivals. I’d like to see it at all grounds, but I don’t know if it will happen. At grounds such as United and Liverpool, any ‘pay in’ on the day seats will surely go to the tourists.

Also, regarding falling attendances, I am sick of Sky Sports making a song and dance over the declining figures. Do they not realise that most of the problems and faults in todays game were engineered by THEMSELVES? I mean, if they didn’t show as many matches on television, the only way to watch the game would be to go to the match. Their saturation coverage is killing the game. I wish they’d go tits up.

ALEX- I do actually think anybody sitting in the opposition end should actually ‘sit on their hands’, so to speak. You can guarantee at least one person will have a go at you if you open your mouth, if not a few. Therem we agree on something! And no, I’m NOT a scouser. Thanks.

I just read the last part as that is one hell of a read (you have way too much time on your hands!!), my posts were simply to get a reaction (see my last post). I know the hooligan wannabe’s and they make me laugh as much as they make you laugh, I sit behind a young lad who gives it none stop to away fans and does a silly gesture with his little finger (as if to say the away fans have small willies I think). All I can think is that if a fan from the away end came for him he’d sh*t himself. Lets get 1 thing straight, i’m no wannabe hooligan, had my fair share of football scraps but never been one to go for trouble, always followed Wigan and always will.

Don’t you think that Sky’s constant ramblings about attendences is in my opinion lately targeted at the FA Cup a competition that they are not allowed to bid for ?
I notice they havn’t been going on about attendences in the Prem not even ours .

Yes, but they mention us only getting 5,000 on (fall of 13,000 off our average) but they don’t mention the low attendances for the other clubs (bigger clubs) – not as much as ours anyway.

I love the criticism though, when BBC, etc get on our backs it makes me smile and to think we’re annoying them which, like it or not us being in the prem does is just fantastic!

Belittling what’s not their’s to belittle, you mean? Definitely.

Let’s face it, modern day football is all about one thing……..money.

Premiership…….being ruined by money. Fixtures all over the place, done away with the traditional Saturday afternoon as Football day. Is there still a ‘Saturday Football Pink’ newspaper? I’ve not see one for ages, if there is. The falling attendances…..saturation coverage….etc.

Champions League……that’s a joke. Champions…..down to 4th placed teams. The more teams….the more game and coverage needed….means more money and sponsorship revenue. Greed.

Next step will be a ‘Euro Super League’, where all the so-called ‘big clubs’ will compete. The idea will be touted by spin doctors as the solution to everybody’s ‘financial problems’. (You can just see it)

Also, clubs taking out huge loans, and overspending, based upon anticipated TV money and revenue. Ok, not Sky’s fault directly. But still at the root of things. If Porstmouth do go tits up, what a reflection it will be. A big club, large fan-base, Geographically unchallenged….but their owner(s) have overspent and mismanaged to catestrophic levels.

SKY SPORTS- Destroying the game which we love. I will never, EVER, have Sky Sports. It is the bain of the game.

Alex theres a difference between creating a atmosphere and being a nuisance or some might say a stain on our club (note i say our club because thats who it should belong to the fans). There was a better atmosphere at Springfield park and during our rise up the leagues at the JJb than there is now or has been during the so called prem years.

The problem is what some people think of as atmosphere isnt what older fans would class. To me the banging of the wall, sidings and drum whilst whistling is all Soccer am crap! Whats happened to our traditions? Wheres Yams gone? Why are we rehashing Teales old song for Zoggy?

As for your hatred of Scouse fans most of them that go home and away actually have a great deal of respect for us and what we have achieved unlike the Manchester clubs fans who see us as a pimple on the arse of their achievements. Its only since the last few times theyve visited that theyve begun to lose respect because of our tennage wannabe element.

To be honest alex il probably know you by sight and your dad especially if you dont go with your mates! I agreed that if we cant sell our allocation then why not offer another section or wing to fans and have it cordened off. Lets be honest if it werent for the police and the poor followings from some clubs we would still offer the east as a away stand im sure of it!

Everyone does have different opinions of football violence however the thing is the younger generation have been brought up with it glamourised in these films of recent years like Football Factory but have no recollection of the days when it was scary to go to games, and no idea of how it used to be. Im only 30 but in my days fighting it was just a straightner nowadys its 10 on 1 in King street not good odds if your the 1 and then youve got the dicks that think its cool to be seen carrying a knife!

As for whats said about attendances im going to say something not many will agree on but our club is dying and some would say the core has already died!

Yes i know its contreversial but look around you at the next game and ask how many would be there if it was championship football never mind league 1 or 2. Like vat says its all about money now.
The problem is at Wigan the people that should be our main demographic and our loyal fans are no longer coming to games for many reasons, too many to discuss here. Does the club chase them or try to attract them back? No it would rather have the youth and familys but il guarentee if we ever go down a lot will disappear! Then the club will be trying to get people back.

Next game look at the South stand, and es8, ws1 and ws8. They are nearly empty so why doesnt the club do something to fill these areas? The easiest one would be to offer dirt cheap season tickets to pensioners, Jobless, people on benifits in these areas and this would bring good publicity to the club and these people if they get a job would move to better seats and pay more once youve hooked them. Is the club bothered? No it would rather take the chance that against a big 4 side we sell out.

In the English game the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer because of the way the tv deals are set up and the cahmpions league however will sky change it? No because they are too scared the big clubs will either run off or demand they can sell their own rights!

Vat i worked for a company Radio Rentals that was bought by a bank Nomura that bougt it solely to get loans from the future rental revenues. However it went tits up when it became easier to get credit and tvs became cheaper plus the bank cut down on stock and new items etc. Radio Rentals had to merge with Granada to keep the loans and then disappeared. The bank is still paying the debts off. That could happen here!

As for the European superleague its economically not viable according to hundreds or reports yet the big clubs like to keep it there hanging to have one over on Sky.

The biggest problem at the moment is the 10%rise in tax for the uks highest earners. Footballers cant get around it the same way Bankers etc can as they have to be paid in a way that is transparant by the FA so theres no brown envolopes (supposdly). At the moment the pfa is kicking up a fuss in private to goverment to make footballers exempt hence why not many players have been signing no new contracts about this but at the end of the day unless the goverment folds under the pressure a extra 10% will have to found by every club and were do you think thats going to come from???

Yes you me and every other fan!!!!!

However, your take on ‘hooliganism’ is exactly the same as mine. My dad and his mates used to travel all over in a tranny van, all pi**ed up including the driver and they were always involved in trouble, that was back then and now, it’s a totally different game. He never classed himself as being a hooligan in his day but the lads around him where and he used to mix with them.

I agree with your point about fans coming now we’re in the prem, i’m not one of them but I don’t mind it. I know ex man utd, liverpool, etc armchair fans who now watch wigan and although alot still class utd/liverpool as their no.1 team they are paying to watch our club and that’s a bonus. Some have however switched and now class wigan as their no.1 team. I believe that if you’re born in wigan you support wigan no matter how good they are or who they’re playing week in week out.

I have mates who support Utd (4 of them) and 1 of them doesn’t know anything about Utd. The other 3 class themselves as Utd supporters even though they’ve only been to Old Trafford as many times as I have. It’s annoying BUT they’ve been brought up by their dads/grandads who maybe followed rubgy and classed latics as a sh*t club and therefore went for a team that won everything. One of my mates recently had a little lad and he owns 4 utd tops at 4 months!

Yeah those are the types of blokes that would of supported Germany in the war as they had a better chance of Silverware!
