It should be an absolutely classic day out.
In to Liverpool, early bells, Breakfast in the Wetherspoons, washed down with a few pints and Aussie Rum and Pepsi cocktails (Class) and then take in some music from the Mathew Street Festival, which starts on Sunday.
Enjoy a good few more drinks around the centre, probably take in Dr Duncan’s for a nostalgic pint of Cains, and then head into Revolution for a few sticks of shots, and then onto a few more bars in that vicinity. Head up to Goodison and have a few ales down County Road, in the Harlech Castle, etc.
Go the match, if I’m still able to, and then after the game head straight back the ale ‘aws for a few more bevvies, before eventually going to the Chinese near the Sir Thomas Frost, for some salt and pepper wings, which are, I have to say, fantastic. Train back to Ormy, straight into Disraeli’s and a few more ales consumed. Taxi back to my mates, more ale, more scran, feel rough as hell, and then get ar’ peg to pick me up. Or I’ll crash. What a fookin day it promises to be. Even if we get beat, I don’t give a toss. Going for the ale, rather than the game. If you put everything on the game, you end up going home a miserable get, if you lose. So from now on, it’s ‘Win or lose, I’m on the booze’.
Laughin lids.
25 August 2009 at 3:30 pm #6458Cracking song to sing:
To the tune of you are my sunshine.
You are a scouser
A dirty scouser
You’re only happy on Giro day
Your Mum’s out stealing
Your Dad’s’ drug dealing
Oh please don’t take my hubcaps away!25 August 2009 at 3:46 pm #6464Cracking song to sing:To the tune of you are my sunshine.

25 August 2009 at 7:05 pm #6513Hey
seeing as we are all revealing ages I am 41 TODAY!!!
I know I don’t look it chaps…lol
My hubby is taking me to Goodison on Sunday with the older 2 bin lids. Baby is going to me mams.Hope we get a good game tomorrow too. Saldy can’t go on the lash like Vat much as I would love too.
25 August 2009 at 7:37 pm #6517Last time I went on ‘the lash’ was Cup Final day in May.
Funnily enough, that was in Liverpool as well. But there was a funny atmosphere, especially after Everton lost that day. It kind of spoiled the day, as we could see bother happening.
Where as Sunday will see the place full of merry people, looking to have a good time. It can be the nearest Wigan ever get to playing in the atmosphere of somewhere like Amsterdam. I mean, a place full of tourists and people out enjoying themselves.
I’m not that bothered about the festival, but it all adds to the atmosphere.
25 August 2009 at 11:32 pm #6545Vat with the amount you plan to drink that to me is the ‘Lash’…but then again I am a light weight…lol

26 August 2009 at 1:37 am #6561Vat tha want’s be carefull at Villa a few of our fan’s didn’t make it into the ground because they were a bit on the drunken side
26 August 2009 at 12:20 pm #6596Vat with the amount you plan to drink that to me is the ‘Lash’…but then again I am a light weight…lolWell, I drank like that on cup final day. Got in to the Wetherspoons in Liverpool for 11, and by 1.30 I was ‘merry’. I’m lucky in the fact that I seem to get to a certain point, and no matter what I drink, I don’t seem to get any worse.
In fact, there are only two drinks that have ever got me ‘blottoed’, and they were Ouzo- I drank a full bottle…..urgh, mingin, and funnily enough, Vat 69 whisky. I was on it a few years back, when I used to sit in the South Stand, and it took my mates the full 90 mins to stop me from falling about 4 rows forward. Worst I’ve ever been at a match.
I’m not daft. I’ll be sorting myself out before I go near the ground or turnstiles. Thing is, they don’t have ale on at Everton. Or perhaps they did last year? I can’t remember, but I don’t think they did. their Balti Pie won an award, though. :D
