5pm in UK is about 2am in Asia. I know it’s not much better, but 3pm would be about midnight.
For Europe whether 3pm or 5pm is irrelevant, and the States 5pm would be noon on the East Coast and 9am on the West Coast – hardly likely to get the country excited. Especially in baseball season.
Been looking into travel arrangements this morning. I was literally about to book on the train, but thought I had better check the kick off time, as my plan was to get the 20:30 train back, giving us plenty time to get back to Euston.
To my great horror, I have to inform you all that it seems the match will kick off no earlier than 5pm. I’ve even seen a link on the People website from two years ago which says that “from 2013 the final will kick off at 5.30pm”. My mate looked at a Wembley link before and someone had asked about kick off time. The answer was “around 5pm”.
If all this is TRUE, its going to rule out us getting the train. If City get through, its going to be one hell of a busy M6. Once again, it’ll make things difficult for our support.
5 / 5.30 is now standard practice i think – alleged better viewing figures (versus 3 pm start)
Its clearly nothing to do with more money to be made from TV companies, as the late kick off passes into prime time Saturday night Television. I would be being very cynical to suggest such a thing, wouldn’t I?
The certain thing is that it really doesn’t work out well for either clubs fans. Trains are a no no, and lets be honest, not everybody can afford to, or want to stay over in an hotel. (saving that experience for Europe)
Also, the North West coaches are going to be in vast demand from both sets of fans. Are prices going to be a rip off?
WIGAN ATHLETIC ARE IN THE FA CUP FINAL! If a hotel is out of the question, look at hostels. There must be some coach firms running day trips.
Even better we could wait till about 90 minutes has gone and start punching our friends and family in the face. Then voila – free high speed taxi and a bed for the evening;)
No use moaning boys and girls just get on with what ever time the kick off is its the same for both northern teams the reason charted trains didn’t run was because of work on the line after 8.30pm if that work has finished in time they should be charted trains.
Coach trip then. Looks like your searching for excuses.
Not really.
Missed 7 homes in 27 years. Enough said.
Doesn’t mean I like the fact I can’t get the train. Coach was red hot last night. Like a sauna. Just hope its better for final, though I feel we will get home later.
My worry is that they will be patronizing us all the way down “you’ve done well for a little club, but we’re a massive club….” and so on. Every City fan I’ve met like to crack on they’re ‘salt of the earth’ and have been going for years.
Just got in now after making a weekend of it. Hilton Park full of Man City fans who think they’ve already won the cup.
They must have been so busy supporting city through the dark days they’ve forgotten what happened to Liverpool against Wimbledon, Spurs against Coventry etc.
Kick off is 5:30. It’s been on the ESPN website for weeks, apparently. Mrs Griff checks these things on a regular basis.
Its ridiculous isn’t it? 50,000 fans heading south and trains not an option. Is it to milk fans for more money, from hotel revenue, etc? I think so.
Traffics going to be absolute murder. Anybody going there and back on the day, I wouldn’t make any plans for the Sunday. Going to be getting home very late.
Looking forward to the final, just not everything that its going to entail. Patronizing Mancs, especially.
