Pep wants them gone. Another big club disrespecting the comp.
Maybe Prem teams should agree to receive no payments from the comp and instead give it to their lower league opposition or to grassroots football in an all PL tie.
25 January 2020 at 12:36 pm #184306They’ve already got rid of replays from rd5 onwards, won’t be long before they get rid from rd3 onwards.
The sooner the “top clubs” form a European Super League the better.
25 January 2020 at 1:50 pm #184309And why not , get it over in the night I say. Weve 3 cup competitions and 8 more League games.
I have to agree, fans are choosing with their feet25 January 2020 at 2:09 pm #184310The structure in gate receipts would have to change to compensate the lesser clubs. Give them the choice if they draw a premiership club. Either the tie is played at the home of the smaller club or they get the lions share of the gate if its played away. Otherwise yet again the top clubs come out of this healthier than the rest.
25 January 2020 at 3:35 pm #184314Exactly nuneaton. The big clubs don’t understand that a lucrative tie and replay for a small club can be a massive difference in their fortunes.
25 January 2020 at 4:14 pm #184316No prize money for premier league teams isn’t a bad call, share it out amongst the lower teams, the lower u r the more u get. The prize for the premier league teams? Winning it and qualify for Europe ( that brings back memories)
25 January 2020 at 10:54 pm #184325The league cup is the one that needs radically changing in my view .
Get rid of all the defected Premier league teams and then give some
Of the sleeping giant football league clubs the chance to play at Wembley.
The European place would go but at least there would be a different name on the trophy rather than the usual top bore clubs.
As for the FA cup which is over 100 years old and the most prestigious domestic knock out tournament in the world , leave it as it is bar minor adjustments.
The tournament will be valued by true supporters long after he and all his ilk have departed our game, maybe a tweak here and there but that’s all.
It’s been messed about enough for years but still is the only opportunity for the whole of professional and semi professional game to play each other and is valued by many.
That is far more important than cheap money that has destroyed our game and mundane matches (in a very dire premier league this year btw)and our game has been damaged enough without ruining a famous cup competion now existing in its third century !
As for the premier league sloping off to a European league I have just choked on my tea with laughter at the thought of such giant mortals as Sheff Utd Burnley, Bournemouth and Watford being big enough to grace a stage like that .25 January 2020 at 11:20 pm #184327They wouldn’t though would they vince that’s the point. It would be the likes of city, liverpool, chelsea, united, spurs, arsenal.
Fully agree with your comments about the cup and yes the PL has been dire unless you ask Liverpool fans who will claim it’s been the toughest one ever
25 January 2020 at 11:24 pm #184329His side are shit again so hes started slagging the game off. FA Cup, too many games at xmas, VAR (he might have a point)
26 January 2020 at 12:00 pm #184336There blaming the likes of replays but when in fact the problem lies with the Champions League and the Europa Cup.
You dont hear the bell end moaning about group games and 2 legs in the Champions League.
Give him a season or 2 and he’ll be off Italy or to the US of A with that tvvat wanna be gangsta DV Becka26 January 2020 at 1:12 pm #184337I can see where he is coming from, but its not just Man City and the premier league sides who field vastly changed teams and could be seen as disrespecting the FA Cup. Reading made 11 changes, Cardiff made 7. WBA made 8 changes. Even Hull City made 4 changes from their previous league game.
26 January 2020 at 1:25 pm #184338Doesn’t stop them flying to the other side of the world in the close season playing useless tournaments just to promote their brands.
26 January 2020 at 1:35 pm #184339Funny how the game has shifted but it’s the supporters who are being short changed with weakened sides and they are voting with their feet and rightfully so.
The game boils down to money however the TV companies will be off like a shot if the stadiums empty up again like they did in the 1980s.
Seem to Remember spurs being fined by the football league in early eighties for fielding a weakened side in a league match before an FA cup final.26 January 2020 at 3:11 pm #184340Funny how the game has shifted but it’s the supporters who are being short changed with weakened sides and they are voting with their feet and rightfully so.

26 January 2020 at 6:20 pm #184344Whenever anyone mentions the playing of weakened sides I always think of Ian Holloway’s Blackpool getting a hefty fine for making a few changes against Villa. They only lost the game by the odd goal and the likes of united were fielding weakened teams against the teams at the bottom of the league on a regular basis.
I know that was a league game but rules for one and rules for others at its best. From Matlock to ManU
