Can’t remember that one Nuneaton, my mind is a bit foggy these days
3 nil up at their place abandoned due to fog, 2nd attempt 2 nil up then they scored twice in last few minutes to force a replay we finally won it 1 nil at Springy. Famously dumped Chelsea out at the Bridge in the next round
I remember the game at their place. I was too small to see, but my dads mate told him there was a policeman who had a dart in the side of his face.
I also remember the replay. If memory serves me correct, derek brownbill got the winner.
The dart thing did happen but we were non league at the time and it was at an FA Trophy tie. Same season as the dads and grandads of the Goons played havoc at Lancaster City.2 December 2018 at 12:08 am #173595I was behind the goal for that Jim Fleming Pen against Peterborough (88th min) …..17,000 on for a Northern Premier League side at home to what at the time was a mid table 4th Divn team (League 2 for you youngsters) never seen the like of it before or since, where in Gods name did they all come from and more importantly where the **** did they go to ?
Mind you I’m 60 now , I was 12 1/2 years old then, so most of that crowd have likely joined the ‘choir invisible’ …God bless ‘em

Well, I’m still here. I took a couple of college mates from Preston. I don’t think they became life long Latics fans.

My recollection is a PC with the dart. FA Cup tie abandoned by fog. Replay on Christmas Eve 1981.

2 December 2018 at 9:10 pm #173620My recollection of the dart incident was in the FA Trophy second round which we won 4-2 in 1974/75 season.
I may be wrong though but I seem to remember the photo in a newspaper and the report saying about it being at a tie between two non league clubs. I may be totally wrong.3 December 2018 at 12:57 am #173622My recollection of the dart incident was in the FA Trophy second round which we won 4-2 in 1974/75 season.
