Huge banana skin this weekend at the DW Stadium. Will Leam rest a few and put out the fringe players or play the game like it was Man City in the Semi Final/Final?
Considering there is an International break coming up, I think he could well play most of the first teamFA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
4 November 2021 at 4:58 pm #194600I really hope Leam puts a strong team out and gets the game won, but I don’t think he will. And does make it a banana skin.
4 November 2021 at 6:36 pm #194601Time was when you rested players for league games so they would be fit for the FA Cup. There was something magical about the first round of the FA Cup , to get a league club ,the chance to make headlines on the back pages and get National recognition ,to keep the dream alive of getting one of the big boys in the 3rd round. The big Premier League teams have ruined the Cup competitions by playing weakened teams and this has filtered down through the leagues so now basically everyone does it. I really hope we take it seriously and put out a strong team , also hope people don’t make excuses not to go and we get a decent crowd. Up the FA Cup Tics !
5 November 2021 at 7:40 am #194606And this guy might be a big problem
5 November 2021 at 8:50 am #194607No one, simply no one can beat Dan Burn.
I do like this guys attitude though. At 6’9″ he says he knows how high the jump is, and he thinks he can make it. If anyone can …. he can. I doubt Messi will ever make a jump that high, or even Albi Crusat.
6 November 2021 at 8:09 am #194616Be very surprised if he plays a strong team which is the way the game has gone now.
Had some fantastic cup games in the past and one that sticks in my mind was against chesterfield in early eighties.
A declared crowd of nearly 9000 ( looked a lot more ) and a passionate home and away crowd watching a superb 2-2 draw.
A bit of bother here and there obviously but weirdly added to the atmosphere at the wonderful Springfield park.
I doubt we will get anywhere near that attendance today which is a shame.6 November 2021 at 10:46 am #194619I can see the likes of Jamie Jones, Gavin Massey, Jordan Jones, Edwards, Humphreys, Robinson starting with a few youth thrown in. Some of the first team will be on the bench just incase of a potential banana skin. But I’m gonna stick my neck out & say this will not be a repeat of Chorley
6 November 2021 at 6:27 pm #194622Changes were made. It wasn’t our strongest side. Leam cost us today and it’s down to him. Our shit home form or style of play/ set up failed again.
6 November 2021 at 6:29 pm #194623Considering we won the FA Cup less than than years ago no excuses the crowd today was appalling. You could hear a pin drop the atmosphere was that bad.Less than three thousand , shocking.
6 November 2021 at 6:37 pm #194624Well when the manager isn’t arsed then that rubs off on the fans. We won midweek so we change things. McClean player of the month and is the player who can make a difference and break a side down no matter how resistant and stubborn they are. Rested FFS!
6 November 2021 at 6:56 pm #194626To be fair we had a strong side out today ,certainly strong enough to beat Solihull Moors. Couple of injuries early doors didn’t help matters but the whole atmosphere was as flat as a pancake and that rubbed off on the players. They never got out of second gear. We now have a completely unnecessary replay. Well done to Solihull but I think if we had upped the tempo a bit we would have won the game comfortably.
6 November 2021 at 7:13 pm #194627Bolton in cup, Wolves youth, Sunderland in cup, Sheff Weds, Milton Keynes, Lincoln were also games where we couldn’t or didn’t up the tempo. Last week he changed things at home. Looks like the ten men was the made reason for halting this awful home form.

6 November 2021 at 8:15 pm #194629Once upon a time ago we all grumbled at scraping a draw against Bournemouth.
Leam always knew we wanted an away day in a desolated ground in south Birmingham
Bring it on!!
6 November 2021 at 8:41 pm #194630The new owners will have to learn quickly (in case we get a 2nd round home tie) that FA cup games are poorly attended unless it’s a “big” team. £15 was too much for most and then I got this email on Friday…
“Dear Supporter,
You are receiving this email as a holder of a seasonal parking pass for one of our official Car Parks for the 2021/22 season.
For clarity, ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup First Round fixture with Solihull Moors at the DW Stadium, we felt it was appropriate we contacted you in advance of the game to confirm that seasonal parking passes are inclusive of League One fixtures only and that passes are not valid for Cup fixtures.
Parking is available at the DW Stadium on Saturday, with Car Parks 1, 3 and 4 available for £5 on arrival.
Thank you for your continued support.
Wigan Athletic Ticket Office”
The car park season ticket previously included cup games. Been on hols this week so was tempted to turn up on the day but that email put me off.
We’re in the 2nd round draw though so up the Tics
