Mr Whelans biggest mistake was not appointing someone like a Kinnear /Bassett or someone similar with a lifetime of experience just to help guide him.Blackburn made the same fatal mistake with ince where naivety and inexperience were his downfall. The line needs to be drawn now,new man ,different ideas and somehow grind, fight and poke the prem hierarchy firmly in the eye and say “”we are going nowhere”…..As much as some posters are in denial Robbies reign must end …period…..He will not change his flawed tactical philosophy ,his delvings into the market have been lamentable (moses al habsi apart)..and anyone who remembers the lower league days minus the rose specs surely doesnt want to return there..?This next 2 weeks could be among the most important in the clubs history with massive decisions that Mr Whelan has to address. Some of my lifes highlights have involved my club,Southport out us in,Tommy Gore at Chelsea,Freight rover final, promotions, relegations,Carling cup final…….As much as we all really wanted Robbie to be a huge success unfortunately the well being of Wigan Athletic must take priority and should Mr Whelan fail to address this as a matter of urgency then he will have let the club and its supporters down….!!!
8 January 2012 at 10:22 pm #77611Spot on with that post Mr Brownbill
8 January 2012 at 10:27 pm #77612Good post MR B ive said the same till im blue in,t face im sure RM would have had an easier time had he had better backroom staff.Barrow and Jones dont get the job done.
8 January 2012 at 10:46 pm #77614I have stated on other posts that the coaching staff are 2nd rate at best and that Martinez being a rookie himself is in dire need of help.
Whether he has been offered proper back room staff or whether he would take it if offered I am not sure.
C’mon Mr Whelan its decision time, are you still interested in Wigan Athletic?8 January 2012 at 10:52 pm #77615I have stated on other posts that the coaching staff are 2nd rate at best and that Martinez being a rookie himself is in dire need of help.

C’mon Mr Whelan its decision time, are you still interested in Wigan Athletic? No he’s not thats why I believe Bob is still here. Plus the fact he would have to pay Bob off if he sacked him and having just given him a pay rise and a new contract. I’d go as far as to say Fergie is in more danger
8 January 2012 at 10:58 pm #77617Martinez for Barca ha ha haLate 1990’s early 2000’s …Wigan Athletic in the Premier league ha, ha, ha!
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!8 January 2012 at 10:59 pm #77619goodpost …Back to back wins once in 80 odd games, and not a smell of a tiny cup run to enthuse us all…How the hell can anyone defend the indefencible. We still have hope but that will diminish by the game as long as he continues in office, sad but fact….
8 January 2012 at 11:17 pm #77624I really hoped Bob would succeed but its time sentiments were put behind us.
If he won’t sack him then at least get someone proper in to help.(Jones & Barrow are not up to it)
If he doesn’t like it and feels undermined then so be it, with a bit of luck he will do the honourable thing and go on his own accord.8 January 2012 at 11:18 pm #77625Martinez for Barca ha ha ha

jr what planet are you on??? the team is worse now than when he came his signings are crap and he is tactically inept. All the criteria Barcelona will be looking for in their next coach, NOT!!!!
8 January 2012 at 11:20 pm #77627Maybe Barca are short of a waiter or two.
8 January 2012 at 11:26 pm #77631I can’t believe JR went to all the trouble to post that long winded why i love Roberto post. I was actually asking 34 and not him the reasons why i should think Martinez is the best thing since sliced bread. Nothing he as said as made me change my mind. I don’t went to get caught up in baseless name calling as well so lets not go there. we will beg to differ and leave it at that.
I have no problem when someone offers their whole hearted support one way or the other on the merits of roberto martinez and I fully understand JRfatfans stance on the matter, but I dont like either side of the debate using so called facts to back their OPINION when the facts quoted have no factual basis as I also believe he did.
Like you,my challenge was to 34years who always attacks opposing opinions to his own and never has or will offer a counter arguement, and that statement is also aimed at the anti martinez brigade who also offer no creditable solution if martinez was sacked.
If bobby was sacked what would be the solution, why wasnt there this reaction for jewell/bruce,it is now turning into a farcikle witch hunt by some supporters and before you reply with another martinez luvie, i am not,i want the guy to do well but i support the club as a hole not just when things are going well
I suggest you may want to take a sedative and have a lie down, then perhaps you can come back later a little more refreshed and explain to us all what on earth you are talking about.
It is trite and condescending remarks like that that shows the true person behind the clever prose.
He doesn’t have to explain it to me………I got it (as I am sure did quite a few others)
I have offered alternatives to Martinez and been ridiculed for it !8 January 2012 at 11:31 pm #77633goodpost …Back to back wins once in 80 odd games, and not a smell of a tiny cup run to enthuse us all…How the hell can anyone defend the indefencible. We still have hope but that will diminish by the game as long as he continues in office, sad but fact….In a nutshell ! Some people have very thick rose tinted spectacles though !!

Yeah right, like whelans worried about paying people off
I would imagine that Bob with his new contract would be on quite a good screw so it would cost whelan millions to get rid. Can you see the old fart parting with millions cause I can’t.
