One thing i failed to say though, which i will put right now, despite my dig at that article i fully hope and wish that it does not deter Duke or anyone else for that matter penning their opinions on a front page article and despite me totally disagreeing with what he says in this one it does not hide the fact he usually writes things that in general i agree with and find worth reading.
martinez is a very emotive topic with vastly varied opinions from us all and ones that are really poles apart, there doesnt seem to be any middle ground consensus where this subject is concerned, and is one i have never seen within the wigan athletic ‘family group’ before, we have always been united in the ‘little wigan against the world’ fight and the battle lines drawn over this issue bring out the worst in all of us.

Apologies Mr Walker, not really researched into Spandau Ballet much but from memory they weren’t extremely popular (or shouldn’t have been anyway). With it being a football site though, I’m sure you can let me off ;)

LMB you raise some good points but FilMoss is always saying how ‘the darkside are recruiting more members and referring to them as if they’re a group he’s part of, apologies if I made a slightly incorrect presumption there.

To be fair it’s not so easy to detect through text alone, but nevertheless, you’re hardly the most positive type are you? I’m sure you’d love it if we all sided with you and decided Martinez was cr@p and slagged the team off at every opportunity.

Anybody who sends in an article will generally have it published, whatever the topic……. we always have. It is just that some send in more regularly than others and I for one appreciate the time and effort they put into the peices.
Don’t remember seeing anything sent in by you or PSKL…… The reason why you don’t see any articles from the other side of the line is that none are sent in, period.
Did it not occur to you that PSKL might not have been able to moderate anymore, or that maybe we looked at the logs and saw he wasn’t doing much moderating, or he got sick of the tag, or he couldn’t do it anymore or a thousand other reasons?

Duke,you are wrong ! I don’t agree with what Bob is doing and I don’t rate the majority of his signings. I also think that Bob’s stubbornness has not helped his cause ! Now ” I ” being the operative word means that these are my opinions and to be honest with you I don’t care if people don’t share my opinions ! As this is a forum and forums are for peoples opinions then I feel free to opine when I feel fit ! The reason I am negative is because I can see the club going backwards and the team regressing under its current manager and as I am a little concerned I say so ! Bob has been given the benefit of the doubt too many times with me now and I feel its time for him to move on and for that I get berated !! How can a fan be berated for showing concern over the club he supports when they are quite clearly going backwards ? I will tell you why, because the ones who beg to differ are the old school fans who seem to think that we shouldn’t really be in the Prem anyway and that we have fallen on much harder times in the past ! Well I live in the now and I believe that we could have made a better fist of it than we have. Again I hasten to add that these are just my opinions ! When I talk of new recruits and the darkside etc, that is light hearted banter. What I hear around me on the ground is not and many fans are sick of the way we now perform week in week out. The fact that Bob is revered within the club makes for a very emotive debate but I believe that in football there is no room for sentiment ! I don’t want us to go down and I hate to see Bob failing this way and I certainly would never say ” I told you so ” should he take us down. I am just a fan who wants the best for his club and going down to the Championship is not an option in my view ! I am very passionate and animated on match days and get behind the team. I have never booed but I do get frustrated as many do at our short comings and I usually vent my spleen on here !! I hope that clears things up for you and that you don’t take the forums throw away comments to heart !!

Well thanks for that Fil, I think you’ll find that whenever I refer to the ‘darkside’ I do in so a light hearted manor too. Anyone who knows me as a person will know I’m not one to be affected by other opinions I disagree with.
At no stage have I said you can’t have your own opinion, just simply that I disagree with it. As you state, you are entitled to your own opinion and therefore so am I, or any other board member/Latics fan for that matter.
I’m also glad to hear you’re passionate about the club, I have never questioned this and would never do so because I don’t know you as a person, so I’d have no right to comment. Again I stress I’m just disagreeing with you and others that share a similar opinion to yourself.
As I wrote in my article, I’d like people to consider and appreciate my opinion even if it’s not the same as theirs. At the end of the day I’m not too bothered if you agree with me or not, it’s just an article, nothing too serious.
