You tell me my Friend?
3 November 2011 at 12:38 pm #73375Is that right Griff you were a Man Utd and Rugby man?
think you need to put the record straight with that accusation
3 November 2011 at 3:38 pm #73381Griff, what makes you think that? Will Jeff stop going as well ?I would stick my neck out and say that pro rata I have been on more games than you have ! I have missed just 4 home games in eight and a half seasons ! So since your rugby and Man utd days have you got what I would call a pretty good attendance record ?Bit touchy aren’t we Phil, didn’t have you down for a sense of humour bypass. ;) My “Rugby and Man U” days coincided with when I was playing open age Saturday football and I hardly saw a Latics game at the weekend for about 12 years. I do know that since the move to the JJB I haven’t missed one single home game in all that time, including friendlies. To be honest, I don’t really go in for all that willy-waving about attending matches but since you asked…
By the way, I still support Wigan rugby, though I haven’t been a regular attender since I stopped playing football on Saturdays (see above). I have always had a soft spot for Man U and probably always will, except when they are playing Wigan. I think it comes from my hatred of Liverpool.

Still am, to some extent. It’s a matter of public record in the annals of this forum if you have the time and inclination to search back.
I certainly don’t. It was done to death about two years ago when Dave From Skem went to town on it and we simply established that a lot of our membes can’t read properly. He eventually issued both a public and personal apology, neither of which were necessary.
Go on, go and find it. Wait until you read the bit where I used to go watching Bolton, you’ll love it.

to be fair, he doesn’t seem to be the only one who is a relatively recent convert
good bet that most of the posters on here weren’t too prolific on the Springfield Scene message board back in the 1990’s nor members of the old email ‘mailing list’we need all the supporters that we can get (including those of this ilk) regardless of their previous allegiances or misgivings – a converted supporter is a still supporter regardless of when or why the ‘cleansing’ process took place
if you start hounding out all those who weren’t already firmly on the Latics (band)wagon by the turn of the millennium then you may find this board a lonely place to be
3 November 2011 at 4:30 pm #73387The old mailing list, them were the days !

3 November 2011 at 5:14 pm #733922000 against Gillingham
3 November 2011 at 5:16 pm #73393I thought Nigel had really fat legs then until I realised half of his left one was George’s!
Edit: Spell George’s name right, and correct left leg to right leg.
3 November 2011 at 5:18 pm #73394No – I’m totally hidden behind him :)
3 November 2011 at 5:47 pm #734022000 against Gillinghami have mixed feelings about the 2000 play off final which i missed because it was my daughter’s 4th birthday & party (at our house) that day
in fact i seem to recall that Mr Griff* used my season ticket to get a ticket for the game – that arguably being his ‘road to damascus’ moment
*him turning up very drunk at the party later on [post-wembley] at about 10pm was quite entertaining in its own sort of way

All true, although I think the date of my regular re-attendance was a bit before that. I’m still impressed I managed to find and make my way back to your house that night.

No bypass Griff ! I’m fine. Merely a riposte to you saying I will be gone !! I think my attendance is quite good and it wasn’t meant as willy waving, just trying to prove that I do have some passion and that as a Johnny come lately I am not a bad addition to the fan base ( Up for debate of course ! ) By the way my rugby/Man Ure comment was meant to tickle you and also at the same time bring someone out from beneath his rock….It worked !! :P
