Watched the documentary last night about our first season in the prem and I noticed a few things.
First of all the team spirit and togetherness that was in the team was incredible and what we are missing now (could you see the current crop going round to someones garage)
Also Whelan said that the most important person at the club is the manager and it is vital that he can do a good job. A bit ironic with the clown we have in place at the moment

kettle, pot.
I would suggest that it is easy to have team spirit and togetherness when things are going well, as they were.
I would further suggest that a similar video of the second season – with the same management and most of the same players – would not display the same level of team spirit nor togetherness (the Sheff Utd game apart).
It is exactly the same with the fans.
There was great spirit, togetherness, and lots of back-slapping when things were on the up for about 10 years. Now that things aren’t going as easily (whoever you think is to blame, and it hasn’t just been the past 2 seasons) there are more toys being thrown out of prams than at mothercare on a busy sunday afternoon
No their probably wasnt the same the year later, however it was clear they were still together against Sheff Utd could you see us going to Stoke the last game needing a win and getting it?
Think its called for the first time. Some good interviews with Baines, Roberts, Bullard etc. Its a good pick me up after watching 90 mins of the dross being served up at the moment
could you see us going to Stoke the last game needing a win and getting it?
honestly, YES[/quote]
Very good point andyc   to mant alledged supporters seem very happy that we are in this predicament I really question their support at times
I’m not saying that I dont want us to stay up of beat Stoke I am just saying I cant see it.
Although if relegation is the only way to get rid of the manager who has taken us backwards 6 years?

backwards 6 years?
seriously – did you watch any of the games during most of the 2nd season with jewell, the time under hutchings, or the 2nd half of the bruce’s 2nd season?
i would argue that we have as much potential (good young players) in the squad as we have ever had and if we can get through the next 3 months intact (whichever division we end up in) then we have some very good players to go forward with under a manager who is trying to build for the future and is not only ‘living for today’
Yes I did watch during all these times. Im not going to argue with the point you have made about a good young squad which I think only proves my point more. We have a better players than we have had under other managers yet we are in a worse position? I dont believe that we would be in this position if Bruce, Jewell or maybe even Hutchings or Deehan were in charge for that matter
I would add that my satisfaction with our playing style has been up and (mainly) down this season but has improved over the last 3 games during which we have played in a much more positive manner
Really? Villa we played for the last 10 mins and we sat back against a poor West Brom side who have the worst defense trying to protect a 1 goal lead

been watching this in work, this is the kind of spirit we need to start showing if we have any desire to stay in this league!
sends a shiver down my spine

Of course not. He, like many others, chooses to remember that we were obviously just a nad’s nob from qualifying for the Champions League under all of those previous regimes.
The only difference between now and those regimes is that at some point they had a half-decent run of results before slipping badly away. OK, Bobby hasn’t managed to put a good run together but I’d put a lot of that down to the fact that the Premier League has finally caught up with Wigan Athletic.
