Quick update for those that are interested.
Following a meeting (21/08/09) with the marketing & stadium managers the news is that the club are very much in favour of helping to try and create a vibrant scene at the ground. They would also like us to take this concerpt on our travels, not just at home. To summarise:
– absolutely no large flag poles within the seated areas (H & S)
– flags on large flag poles may be allowed in the space in front of the stand. Fans would have to fund these.
– if we can get enough flags to fill the gantry above the South Stand the club will allow us to hang flags from their. This is approx 70ft wide and would look visually striking. We currently have 3 flags hung up at matchday around the ground which measure about 20ft in total so we need about 50ft more. The flags would be left hung up all season and removed when the football season starts to be hung up again on matchday. The flags would have to have a 5 or 6ft drop but can be as wide as you like.
– the club are interested in putting on some sort of coloured card display in the South Stand on big matchdays (Saints or Leeds) if fans will distibute the cards on each seat. The idea is to have the whole SS looking red apart from the word ‘LOYAL’ spelt out in white letters. The club are looking into funding this.
“Jimmy Birt lives On” is your man for specific questions about the meeting as far as I’m aware scoreboards, Gaz Hock and Weetabix consuption weren’t on the agenda.
