i know its been said before but I’ll say it again.
the cheering when gomez went off was an absolute fooking disgrace,
there were other players out there who were far worse than him.
But once again he was the scapegoat.
sometimes I am ashamed to be a latics fan.
29 November 2013 at 5:29 am #123978Agreed Electric, it was shocking.
It’s a Spanish trait to look a bit disinterested but then spring to life. Look at Brazil next year (construction depending ;) ) they wont be going hell for leather all the time.
Jordi has scored some great goals…he is 1 of our 3 Premier League Hat trickers….
Strangely enough the other 2 got stick as well…
29 November 2013 at 5:32 am #123979Agreed – felt v sorry for the lad.
And when you say there were others far worse than him – he didn’t even play badly at all. Along with Powell he was our best player and the midfield lost all structure when he was subbed.
Don’t know he bothers sticking with us.
29 November 2013 at 10:18 am #123980Far from the worst player.
A defeat and performance constructed by the manager and Jordi the scapegoat.
He shouldn’t have been playing in the first place!29 November 2013 at 10:22 am #123981I think it’s his attitude, or how it comes across anyway, that gets people annoyed. He never looks interested.
29 November 2013 at 11:59 am #123989None of them looked particularly interested in the 2nd half though.
However I thought Gomez did better than most tonight.
He just got caught in possession once and that was enough for the Gomez haters.

On the whole though, I agree with everything in this thread.
And while I’m at it… Nick Powell. Yeah, he’s alright, but nowhere near as good as he, and most of our supporters, make out. He certainly hasn’t earned the right to roll about on the floor like big mard arse girl any time somebody comes within 5 yards of him.
God knows what would have happened if Jordi had done that.
Oh, and finally, whilst being a fully paid-up member of the Gomez fan club, I actually thought he had one of his most ineffective games ever last night. And he still wasn’t the worst player on the pitch.
29 November 2013 at 12:02 pm #123993I agree but his confidence looks shot to pieces. I think he is trying in his own way which is not gung ho but he needs a rest and then maybe eased in as a sub a few times. He’s not the kind of player who rolls his sleeves up and toughs out the bad times.

Think you’ll find after this season, he won’t [taps nose]
29 November 2013 at 12:42 pm #124008Its been a long love hate road with Gomez and to be honest I cant think of anything he has added to the team this season, last night was a cummulation of fustraition with the fans and he needs to know that fustraition.
Coyle needs to sort that midfuield out as there was a huge ghap there all night.
29 November 2013 at 12:54 pm #124010Coyle just needs to leave….

29 November 2013 at 1:04 pm #124011Coyle needs to sort that midfuield out as there was a huge ghap there all night.I don’t think Coyle is capable of sorting anything out. If someone can explain to me what the plan or tactics were last night I’d be most grateful. One-third the way through the season and we still look like a makeshift team that has just stepped out onto the pitch for the first time.
29 November 2013 at 3:34 pm #124026Coyle needs to sort that midfuield out as there was a huge ghap there all night. But we only had six midfield players!
I imagine the plan was to have;
two holding players – McArthur and McCann
two wide players – McManaman and McClean
one central player – Gomez
one forward player – PowellIt seemed to be working until they scored. Then our confidence slipped and theirs grew.

No need for nose tapping Griff, every man and his dog knows that he wont be around much longer ! ;)
29 November 2013 at 3:58 pm #124028Poor Gomez.
He stands with the ball thinking, “There’s nobody to pass to!” What can he do? No wonder he gets caught on the ball.
There was a good reception for him from the Springfield Stand when he came off.
