29 November 2013 at 4:08 pm #124029Poor Gomez.
There was a good reception for him from the Springfield Stand when he came off.Not around me there wasn’t.
29 November 2013 at 6:48 pm #124037At least there appears to be some decent Latics folk about judging by this thread.
Couldn’t agree more about Powell. Thinks he should be back at UTD in the 1st XI imo.
Funny there’s not been anybody shouting the odds about Powell, Holt, Coyle etc only Jordi Gomez, though there also seems to be a anti-Fortune campaign starting as well if idiots round me were anything to go by last night.
I don’t think I know more about football/Latics than anyone else but some of the shite I hear at Latics has to be heard to be believed. A mate of mine last night heard “these are the worst team in Belgium, if we can’t beat these it’s time to pack in” When my mate informed Mr Knob they were 2nd in the league and unbeaten in a couple of months he was told to F off.

30 November 2013 at 12:39 am #124069Got to totally disagree with people’s opinions on both Jimmy Thur and Powell.
These two are the first names on the team sheet for me. Mac because of his work rate, tackles won and keenness to get forward. Me and my mate were just saying how well he was playing when he ballsed that back pass up. He looked like a madman trying to redeem himself and almost scored just before they did.
As for Powell I’ve seen some players come and go at Wigan in my 40 years of watching um and at 19 years of age, he is right up there with the best. Comparing him to Tom Cleverly when he came on loan, Powell beats him in every department for me. i can’t believe utd have loaned him out with the likes of a 40 year old still getting a game every other week.He runs from first minute to last, wins his fair share of headers, tracks back, has that knack of ghosting past players and doesn’t seem to be doing much in the process and boy can he finish.
It’s also nice to see someone playing with a smile on their face, he just doesn’t break sweat.
From what I’ve seen so far he doesn’t moan about tackles unless he’s been really done. He was caught high on his thigh late on and got caught with a stray hand, nothing malicious soon after.
If united would accept the full payment for him that we got for the Jimmy Thy deal I would snatch their bleedin hands off. B)From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!30 November 2013 at 12:46 am #124070I don’t think I know more about football/Latics than anyone else but some of the shite I hear at Latics has to be heard to be believed. Some people seem to have got carried away with our draw in Belgium, if they had taken just one of their countless chances we would be already down and out, their passing, pace & counter attacking last night would have graced the premier league and they would have beaten much better teams than us.
Having said that we also had our chances in the game, and I believe that the inadequacies of the manager was a major contribution for dropped points last night and both games against Kazan.

didn’t realise it was Coyle who missed that free header in Kazan.
anyway, I’m off to The Dee tomorrow, should I pop my dead up or lay it on?
