Anyone take him back ? Hasn’t worked out at Sunderland and were crying out for a goalscorer .. cut price deal or would they look to screw us like we did them ..
24 January 2020 at 3:33 pm #184280He struggled in the championship when he was with us, he’s now struggling with a league one team who are not exactly pulling up trees.
I’ve never been one for wanting old players back, let him go to Blackpool were he might get a regular start and hopefully find his scoring feet. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!24 January 2020 at 4:35 pm #184284Wouldn’t score with the service we’d be providing
25 January 2020 at 3:07 am #184294He’s utter garbage. His last 12 months have been embarrassing, and from what I recall, other than that goal against Man City, he’s done nothing of note for over 2 years.
The rumours around the SOL are that he’s played his last game there. He is lazy and doesn’t fancy hard work and an increased fitness programme that has also seen McGeady told to do one.
I guess you’ll not be getting your full £4m fee now he’s flopped and wont be playing for Sunderland in the top tier.
25 January 2020 at 3:22 am #184296This is sad to hear mutty as we all know what he can do and his goal scoring record speaks for itself. He is ok league one level and perhaps he needs a bit of support and confidence that everyone needs to flourish.
25 January 2020 at 3:32 am #184297The last word I would use to describe Grigg is lazy. Was a work horse for us even if he struggled to score in the Championship.
He was fine in League one so obviously its the coaches and managers at Sunderland who are shyte.
Struggling to get out of league one, being such a massive club must be of big concern of their fans. Don’t get out this season and they will soon be behind Hartlepool in terms of top north east teams.
Best thing Grigg can do is get away from that shower of shyte. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!25 January 2020 at 3:32 am #184298He’s scored goals everywhere he’s been except Sunderland, but yeah he’s garbage.
Grabbed another 10 goals for us after the City one (his 7th of the comp) I think including the one that won us the league.
Maybe you just haven’t used him right and got the best out of him, and if anyone knows about that with strikers it’s us.
25 January 2020 at 11:04 am #184300He’s not good enough that a manager needs to build a team around him, he needs to adapt which he simply can not do.
He proved this at Wigan under Cook and now at Sunderland. To be fair though Cook didn’t like him but that’s nothing knew. For the past few years Griggs been plagued with injuries, hamstring, knee and now ankle which has lead to his poor form. Sadly at the age he is this will follow him till the day he retires.
How we got so much money for him at the time God only knows. Sunderland must have been in desperation mode, blinkers on
25 January 2020 at 11:52 am #184301Clearly in the eyes of JR and Egg, he is still a top class striker, so buy him back then. If he’s that good, why has no club in the entire league come in for him this window?
For those of us who have had to witness his ambling around the pitch over the past 12 months, he is an embarrassment. He is the 3rd division equivalent of Jack Rodwell at the moment – overpaid and unwanted.
Will Grigg’s on fire – my arse.
25 January 2020 at 11:57 am #184302How we so much for him at the time God only knows. Sunderland were in desperation mode blinkers onStuart Donald has admitted that he paid way over the odds as he’d been forced to sell Josh Maja to Bordeaux the week before. With hindsight, keeping Maja and losing him on a free would have been the better option in terms of both on and off the pitch. The £3.5m received for Maja was largely invested in a now worthless Grigg who is reportedly on £10K a week. Maja was reportedly on £600 a week.
However hindsight is a wonderful thing and signing dud strikers is not unique to Sunderland – no doubt DW regrets the day Grant Holt put pen to paper.
25 January 2020 at 12:23 pm #184303Agahowa or boselli anyone, I think these were more wasteful On the money front than Grigg! But i suggest most we’re excited when all were signed
25 January 2020 at 12:28 pm #184304If he’s that good, why has no club in the entire league come in for him this window? Its been pretty much shown that he is a League One striker and I would imagine that due to you spending 3m on him that most clubs in that league can’t afford him
25 January 2020 at 12:29 pm #184305To be fair though Cook didn’t like him but that’s nothing knew.Just picked him every week in League One. Lad gets injured, is massively out of form and that then means Cook doesn’t like him? Ok.

There was plenty of occasions he was fit for us in the Championship and Cook never picked him? Ok.25 January 2020 at 1:38 pm #184308He’d have been on the bench, but like I said, he was massively out of form and isn’t as good a Championship striker as Garner who was probably (rightfully) picked ahead of him.
