filmoss – 1330026 October 2018 at 1:07 am #172674Are you all waiting for an announcement from Leeds United on ticket sales before predicting?
Well, 4600 for some reason seems to be the maximum allowed recently in the 5400 capacity stand for some ridiculous reason.
Why we seem to be the only club in Football history that has to have 800 empty seats in a stand where no segregation is necessary is beyond me.
Wembley Stadium holds 90000, but I am sure it is not cut by 13500 (15% of its capacity) to 76500.
Anyway, 4600 would be a good turnout and it is a good basis for your prediction to be made on.

filmoss – 1330026 October 2018 at 2:52 pm #172682I think the limitation is to do with the capacity of the concourse and the potential for problems there. Leeds fans are known to be volatile, and rather than a large number going to their seats and sitting quietly there is the potential that they will be causing mayhem on the concourse, so numbers are limited to enable better control.
I may of course be wrong.26 October 2018 at 3:15 pm #172683I have heard that before, but it doesn’t make much sense as 5400 have been allowed in there on numerous occasions and surely the size of the concourse was agreed and all safety certificates granted when the stadium was opened.
Maybe it depends on who the visiting club is, but every club will take a percentage of knobs on an away trip no matter how big a club they are, we are a prime example of that.
Our concourse is bigger and better than most other grounds I have been on.
Old Trafford, the biggest league ground in the country was horrendous, yet there wasn’t an empty seat to be seen.26 October 2018 at 3:30 pm #172688As I say I really am no expert on this, but I suspect it will depend on who the opposition is.
A lot of these things have to be agreed with the police, and while you are right that most clubs have a fair collection of knobs Leeds have the reputation, which would make the GMP wary of allowing too many, their own ability to mount any sort of operations in a totally crowded concourse, and what Yorkshire Police’s intelligence about who is actually travelling. These things are known about trouble makers.26 October 2018 at 3:43 pm #172689Somebody once said it was to do with the seats being unallocated but that is easily solved albeit harder to police I suppose.
26 October 2018 at 3:48 pm #172690Somebody once said it was to do with the seats being unallocated but that is easily solved albeit harder to police I suppose.Certainly capacity is reduced if seats or unallocated, or there is suspicion people will sit wherever they choose.
We all know from Latics away days that the 5 to 3 rush from the pub means people are everywhere, although you can still see empty seats all over the place that groups of lads are unwilling to go and sit alone in away from their mates.
The general rule used to be 10% I think, which accords with what you say.
I’m not sure how you think it will be “easily solved”.
The seats will have been allocated but trying to enforce it is almost impossible.26 October 2018 at 5:59 pm #172691A combination of the two I would suggest guys.
We probably reduce the capacity anyway based on the fact that people will sit anywhere, but I would expect we also reduce it even further on police advice.

I meant the allocating of seats is easily solved, but making fans sit in their seat could be tricky.
That said, apart from the Charity Shield match where we had 4 seats each, I have always sat in my allocated seat unless there have been thousands empty.
I even sat in my allocated seat when I used a complimentary ticket to watch Chester FC v FC United a few weeks back.28 October 2018 at 1:55 pm #172742Probably most likely to be just another snipe by Wigan Council and the Police at Whelan and Latics.
They have a track record for this sort of idiocy going back many years.
Allocated seating by ticket is policed quite easily at many grounds that have full sections all over the world.28 October 2018 at 2:18 pm #172743Allocated seating by ticket is policed quite easily at many grounds ….How many Latics away games have you been to recently?
28 October 2018 at 5:55 pm #172748All this allocation discussion is detracting from the main point of this thread.
By all means keep posting about the seat allocation as it is very interesting.
Maybe Egg could enlighten us on what would happen with the North Stand allocation in the unlikely event an away team of egg clodders were to bring a lot of fans.Anyway just to remind everyone:

They certainley loved jumping on the PL & FA Cup bandwagon and, not forgetting Daves millions to get the Wigan Youth Zone up and running.
Whether they would piss on us if we were on fire nowadays is debateable and they would probably revert back to treating us with contempt like in the old days.
I may be wrong and a bit long in the tooth but I wouldn’t trust Wigan Council one inch when it comes to all things WAFC.
With the amount of Community stuff WAFC get involved with these days they should be jumping through hoops for us.29 October 2018 at 11:56 am #17276013,548
