Very quiet on here today after the disappointment and anti climax of yesterday even the moderators cant come up with anything constructive to say!

1 September 2016 at 10:07 pm #150398To be fair we were in this situation last season with a completely brand new team. This season seems no different. This season is about consolidation in this league. If we finish one place above the relegation places, i for one will be content, then we can build for the future. The trouble with some fans on here is they want a quickfix return to the premier league.Sorry guys, but it wont happen this season.
If my memory serves me right didn’t Sharpie/Caldwell say at the beginning of last season “we are building for the future” when we got rid of more or less an entire squad and recruited an entire squad?

That is what building for the future is. If you build your house for the future, you don’t just paper over the cracks. You change things around, replace some old things with new, swap things that haven’t worked with new ideas, you add new parts, extend and enlarge where needed and get rid of the shite that has got worn out.
Football clubs evolve all the time and decisions are made that upset some, but excite others, we just hope the decisions are made for the right reasons and the stability of the club is not compromised.
David Sharpe and Gary Caldwell and thier team look to me to be going about their business in a thoughtful and professional manner, and doing what they think is best for this fabulous club of ours.2 September 2016 at 12:14 am #150408I know all that Horc but is it really necessary to rip the squad apart two seasons in a row? Some of the lads shown the door have only been at the club a few months, i would have preferred four or five new signing adding to what we had and keeping the stability and not creating any upheaval.
Last year i was all for the massive changes to get rid of players that obviously didnt want to be at the club, there was no reason to do it again especially in the Championship, i reckon after last seasons success with a brand new squad it will be very hard to emulate this time around in this league, it seems we are pushing our luck!
Fuck the EFL

Nobody worth their salt has actually been shown the door, they have been sent out on loan to get the experience they need. They are still Latics players and if they are good enough they have still time to prove it.
If we hadn’t won the League last season, and if the club had been happy enough just to sustain a mid table position in League one then there wouldn’t have been such an upheaval.
The players that have been loaned out are victims of our success, we went up, and want to stay up at least, so new improved players are needed to try to attain that.
If we stay in this league then the incoming and outgoing loan players situations will be re-assessed, and so the football merry go round goes on. Its football in 2016 Bullit, we have to like it or limp it.

So they are the only one’s that should have been shown the door then according to your theory of “shite needing to be replaced”?
So we have made changes for the sake of it?
