I do believe schools get a lot of freebie tickets but how many actually get used, instead of giving free tickets to the schools give the tickets to season ticket holders, im not saying take away all the free tickets to schools, but at a guess a lot more tickets would get used giving them season ticket holders, and one thing that i have heard on numerous occasions people saying they cant get a ticket if not on data base, get shut of that policy and stop making it so hard to get a match ticket,

The database is only in use when it is local teams we are playing. If anybody tries to get a ticket for Latics v west Brom, they will get it as long as their post code is in the North West.

It is also fair to point out that the database has names stored for anybody who has had a season ticket or bought a ticket in the last 6 years….. which speaks volumes for those that say they can’t get a Liverpool ticket because they are not on the database.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

I think we have been through this before, but when they give them out to local schools they must be very selective. A friend and his son come and watch every now and then, they tell me their school has never been approached.

There does seem to be a communication problem between club and fans

I am not sure on the exact dates, but you will get the general drift of my example

WAFC state on the official site sometime ago that the tickets for the West Ham game are £36 for adults, VERY shortly after this West Ham state on their official site that in order to ‘fill the ground’ they are going to offer kids for a quid and £20 for adults.

Nothing – complete silence on this from the WAFC official site

Then at the beginning of this week some 3 weeks or so after the West Ham statement our official site pipe up with kids for a quid and adults £20 for West Ham !!!!! and then urge everyone to buy and create a good atmos

Dont they realise that if they had put the offer out at the same time as West Ham then more people would have taken up the offer, made travel arrangements and maybe booked overnight accom etc – how can people be expected to change their plans at the last minute

then they unbelievably offer to refund anyone the difference who bought at £36

Long rant I know but come on West Ham were 3 weeks ahead of us

Like I say lack of communication and it isnt the first time there are many many examples of how poor the club are on this subject

To the best of my knowledge, West Ham only made this decision after last Sunday’s Liverpool, so Monday at the earliest, when they declared the Wigan match a must-win game.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think so

and what if someone just wants to watch a wigan and man u game as a neutral, answer cant get a ticket.

Very true that. A couple of people who had season tickets in front of me in the East Stand dont seem to have renewed this season, or have moved.

So far this season i’ve had Colombians, Poles (probably live in Scholes to be fair) and what looked and sounded like Iranians sat in front of me in those seats. They were all for the lesser games but what if a genuine tourist wants to come and see us at home to Man Utd/Liverpool/Everton …… ?

How i see it no-one should get refused a ticket, we are not in the position to do that, and why do we advertise on rock fm for games, if people hear it from outside of wigan they wont be able to get a ticket, if not on data base, another scenerio if someone from skem wants to watch us against liverpool for example but doesnt support liverpool but wants to watch a cheap game of football, He wont get a ticket, so for me the club aint doing enough on that side of things,

                #51604

If the club were refusing thousands every week because of the database then they would change the policy. The fact that they have stuck by it suggests that they aren’t.

My school in the 08/09 season we’re given (after 2 months of waiting) 10 tickets for a home game and if it wasn’t for all the crap parents had to sign – there would be 20/30 people wanting tickets.

Obviously, the way the club makes money is getting adults to pay for their tickets. Problem is, the parents wouldn’t go.

Why doesn’t the club approach primary school’s about this scheme – then there would be money coming through and even more potential fans.

Also; matchday busses to the ground – there are none. I go 1/2 Cup games a season by bus and it takes me ages to find the bloody timetable !

Bottom line, ask the fans – the stay away’s

You may be shocked to hear this, but we’ve got the best/worst supporters in the Premier League – FACT.

Griff – you listen to Rock FM ?

No you are not normally wrong Griff

West Ham offered kids for a quid in the week before the Liverpool game – they would have spoken to WAFC about this and therefore our club would know of the offer last week and what do they do offer these tickets 3 days before kick off!!

Like I said communication is a problem – the West Ham tickets are one example of many

Against Bolton the other week I heard the stewards near the ticket office directing Bolton fans straight to the turnstiles where it was pay on the gate.

Why is it alright for away fans to pay on the gate, but home fans have to be on data bases or queue for tickets.

Its just stupid, if someone wants to watch a game and there is room in the ground ffs take their money and let them in.

There should be one pay on the gate turnstile in each stand, or make one stand completly pay on the day.

Kids for a quid is pretty useless really for away fans if the adult tickets are still £36. And until Tuesday of this week, they still were £36. I know this for a fact because I have checked with the club.

Unfortunately i think the club’s hands are tied on this by advice from the police who in turn advise those who issue the club with its safety certificate
From what I can gather after trouble in the home stands for games against the likes of United, City, Everton & Liverpool (in particular) the police put pressure on the club to introduce a new system for ticketing & that is what the club came up with & what the police accepted. If the club had done nowt or only come up with ideas that did not solve the problem the police would have advised the council to withdraw the safety certificate

Unfortunately for the club it can make getting a ticket for some games a complete ball ache (if not impossible)
