What are your thoughts on our new manager? I think he knows what he is doing and he is going to be a much sought after gaffer very soon ! I like his touchline presence and the way that he orchestrates things without getting too overheated. He is fairly well composed and communicates to the lads on the pitch well and they actually listen to him ! He also seems to have restored some confidence back into the fans. Couple that with his restoration of the player’s confidence and we have the makings of a club that can go on a good run and maybe even get in the top 2 ! Yes top 2 ! :cheer:
Fuck the Spanish guy and leave him to it, let’s concentrate on the German geezzer who so far appears to be on course to be DW’s best manager in the Universe ! ;)
2 January 2014 at 4:29 pm #125551Is it alright if I comment on Rosler without making unkind remarks about Martinez?
First impressions are good. He seems to be tactically aware.
He also seems willing to give all the squad an opportunity in their best positions. It’s interesting that he seems to be impressed with Beausejour.
Fans mainly see the manager on the touchline, but his behaviour there doesn’t greatly concern me. There are many more important aspects of his work that we don’t see.
2 January 2014 at 4:40 pm #125552I agree – I was forcing myself to go to the games and watch the crap that Coyle served up – now the buzz is back (though Birmingham was not great).
I will always love the Spanish Guy and no matter what he will always be a legend – The end of the penultimate season was the best football I have ever seen (especially the Man U game) from Latics and what Martinez was about – yes he failed to keep us up because we did not have the depth of squad that could overcome the loss of Alcaraz and Ramis – but the FA Cup was just out of this world and beyond 99% of our supports expectations.
I mourned his loss because I could see how Coyle dismantled all the hard work from the last 4 years.
We all knew Bobby would leave and 4 years was more than i expected and showed he really does care about Wigan.
I am rejuvinated by Uwe and believe he will be excellent for us – but I bet you now, he will not be with us for more than 3 years – If he succeeds and gets us into the premier league then we will be lucky to get more than 1 year more from him before one of the bigger clubs comes in for him.
In the meantime – lets just enjoy it.

Good post. That sums it up for me perfectly.
2 January 2014 at 4:53 pm #125554Same here – absolutely spot on Fatman.
2 January 2014 at 6:28 pm #125562We appear to have found a manager with a plan B, so far so good. I really hope he continues to impress.

Actually, I don’t give a toss either way. Funny how we all seem to agree with people who talk sense though, innit?

Got to agree with paragraphs 5 and 6, the ones before perhaps not.
I have never once had to “force myself” to go and watch my team play. I see it has being able to take the rough with the smooth. There has been some dark, dark, times being a Latics supporter, far darker than OC’s time in charge. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!3 January 2014 at 12:15 am #125589impressed so far, unbeaten in the league since he took over, good win at the in form team in the league yesterday, reminds me of martinez the way he patrols the tuchline and some of the things he says, got the players playing again and more inportant brought the feel good factor back. we’ve had a dodgy first half of the season under coyle, the european adventure was great but maybe a hinderance but the good thing is we are still only three points off the play offs with a game in hand, if we can go on a run as they say there is no reason why we can’t get a top two spot.
3 January 2014 at 12:20 am #125590He seems to have a plan b c and d, which is good. Against Birmingham we were awful though. Beating Derby was a really good result and be an eye opener for a lot of clubs. It is great when you are looking forward to going to the match again. Keep up the good work Uwe.
3 January 2014 at 1:25 am #125592Ive got a concern, when beausejour scored yesterday i started doing mollers goal celebration round the living room, i wont tell you the wife said ;) :woohoo:

3 January 2014 at 2:41 am #125597he seems to have messiah qualities -never seen such a reaction from our supporters to a new manager in all my years watching Latics .
at the end of yesterday’s game on the pitch he seemed to be in a very long discussion with crainey which looked like a bit of a rucking in my opinion.
it was all done well away from the other players which suggests he is also a fine man manager as well as a top tactician.
In my view it won’t be very long and it’s a pity we didn’t get him last summer.3 January 2014 at 4:08 am #125600I agree – I was forcing myself to go to the games and watch the crap that Coyle served up – now the buzz is back (though Birmingham was not great).I will always love the Spanish Guy and no matter what he will always be a legend – The end of the penultimate season was the best football I have ever seen (especially the Man U game) from Latics and what Martinez was about – yes he failed to keep us up because we did not have the depth of squad that could overcome the loss of Alcaraz and Ramis – but the FA Cup was just out of this world and beyond 99% of our supports expectations.

Good post, agreed.
UR appears to be good man-manager, and master technician (plan b,c etc.).
Fingers crossed he’s smart in the transfer market (could make or break our season)

The Newcastle game (first 45) was arguably even better – 4 up in 45 mins against a team that came to Wigan on the back of 7/8 successive victories.
The conversion rate (goals to attempts … ridiculous :P ) and football was of Barcelona proportions. Little Wigan !
That run in – Liverpool, Manure, Newcastle, Arsenal etc. really was something else.
I’ll consider myself a lucky guy if I see us play with that level of quality against the ‘big boys’ over a sustained period again. Believe ! Thanks Bob (FA Cup and all). :cheer: -
