I do! Clearly, that’s what not drinking and going on a weightwatchers diet does to you!!
3 January 2014 at 4:21 pm #125628The Newcastle game (first 45) was arguably even better – 4 up in 45 mins against a team that came to Wigan on the back of 7/8 successive victories.The conversion rate (goals to attempts … ridiculous :P ) and football was of Barcelona proportions. Little Wigan ! :ohmy: :ohmy: :dry:
Agreed – 45 minutes of football of breathtaking quality.
And it wasn’t just short passes. They sprayed long diagonal balls from side to side.
Football as good as you could see anywhere in the world!

3 January 2014 at 8:09 pm #125636I can’t argue with the Newcastle game as being up there but the emotions felt that night when we battered manure were up there with the FA cup wij – by the time we played Newcastle i had already seen us beat Liverpool, ManU and Arsenal and I suppose I expected us to beat Newcastle – maybe not as well as we did.

As Bobby M said the other day (Everton), easier to get yourself up for the top teams (Manure, Arsenal), but harder to maintain same level of concentration for the ‘smaller’ teams (Swansea).
The reason, in part, why we were so ecstatic at beating Utd – first time we had beaten them, and not taken a drubbing. Even newly-promoted Burnley beat them 1-0, same season. Blackpool did Liverpool home and away (both got relegated, if memory serves me well).
One may even say Utd. – given prior record – came to Wigan expecting to win (complacency). Newcastle, on the back of our form (Lpool, Chelsea, Utd), I would say however, didn’t. Their two strikers, Ba and Cisse, were on fire at the time, scoring goals for fun.
All in all, for me, Newcastle (though it was admittedly great to see the smile wiped off my smug B-I-L , armchair football know-bugger-all, Utd fan’s, face..
11 January 2014 at 10:27 pm #125831Awful game today yet won 3-0 ! I got the impression that they were told to drop a little deeper after taking a 1-0 lead ! How small was there keeper !!

We played some great football in the 1st half.
3 points is the most important thing though.
11 January 2014 at 10:41 pm #125834I’ll shoot for 32 games played (=> Top 4 material).
Get within 6 points of 2nd / 3rd (Burnley, and QPR both to play – ‘6 pointers’) and 2nd automatic spot up for grabs … all to play for in the last 10 (‘run in’).

PS
N Wells – signed on by Huddersfield – came on as 58th minute sub today (debut); scored in last minute, Town 1-0 Lions 0

How small was there keeper !!Middle of the road game really, wasn’t edge of your seat stuff and the result makes it look convincing. There were times in this game when it looked like a matter of time before Bournemouth would scored. But then there times when we looked very comfortable. Suppose that is credit to our defence.
Bit of a shame the teams above us all picked up points, only moved up one place!13 January 2014 at 9:22 pm #125897Awful game today yet won 3-0 ! I got the impression that they were told to drop a little deeper after taking a 1-0 lead ! How small was there keeper !!
