If the rumours are true and we do get up to £7million (with add-ons) for Hughes for me thats a remarkable achievement by the club.

The thing here is, he’s a young lad, a good player and he might go on to the Premiership and be worth say a £25-£30million so hopefully we have a sell on clause in there with Hull.

Let’s say he does go on to bigger and better things and Hull sell in 2 years time for a guestimated £30million and we’ve a a 20% sell-on that would hypothetically mean we could achieve a possible total of £13million for the sale of hughes.

Would we have ever got £30million for him selling direct from Wigan say in 2 years ? the simple answer is no.

There’s a ceiling price for L1 players and I can’t think of many that have achieved that kind of money infact, I can’t think of too many that have gone on and been sold for around the £13million mark.

Then there’s the other side of the coin and Hughes doesn’t fullfil his potential with Hull in the Championship then let’s go back to the original fee of £7million well I’d that a clever bit of business by us.

At the end of the day the gambles not with us the financial risk lies with Hull.

My whole point is, if we can get that kind of money for any young lad then he has to be sold regardless of what he “might” achieve in 2-3-4 years.

I just wish Robinson at Fulham would fookin move. There was rumours flying around about a possible Liverpool move which would have mean an £8million windfall
The one position I fear for is Tickle. Right now selling him without a replacement would be disastrous. What we need to do is concentrate on finding our next Hughes or Tickle not helping all the other clubs

The point is none of the money will go back in to the playing squad the money raised by the Hughes sale or any other player for that matter will go to pay Danson back on what he spent buying the club, paying off debts etc.

He’s already a billionaire £7.5m is pocket money to Danson however he wants the money back, so I couldn’t give a shit if the club gets £20m for Hughes, the playing side of the club/Maloney won’t see a penny of it, we will stick to loan players and freebies.

Bottom line…….Danson has no ambition for the club, the last thing he wants is promotion because then he will have to put his hands in to those deep pockets, he knows loan players, freebies and cast offs won’t get us promoted, think about it!

You are assuming buddy, there is no real proof / evidence behind what you are saying, its basically a hunch.
So cant agree with you, will wait to see the actual outcome rather than what you are doing, speculating.

There’s two ways you can look at this, you can look at it from the point of view that the running cost of this whole shebang costs a fortune. The ground is beginning to look shabby and it ain’t getting any younger.

The running cost must be off the charts with the price of things going up. So I kind of get that but, we’ve released so many “signed” players that were all on top money and not replaced it’s frightening.

Then there’s the squad, I don’t think I’ve seen a weaker squad than this current crop since we lobbed all the kids in while in administration. I’m all for youth but we seem to be giving everyone else’s young lads that needed experience some who haven’t even played a league game that for me in L1 is madness.

I’ve said it a few times, I don’t think Maloney will last. He’ll be put under so much pressure to get results with an average/weak’ish squad he will pay the price for Danson’s lack of investment back into the squad.

If Maloney does pull the golden rabbit out the bag and we’re top half I’ll compare it with Jewells first season in the Prem, a miracle but personally I just cannot see that happening. This league is unforgiving at the bottom which we all know about.

For me it’s the devil and the deep blue sea scenario and I think Danson’s trying the option (1) approach first by trying to get Maloney to perform a miracle with little financial player investment.

If he pulls it off, masterstroke
                  If he doesn’t masterbates

Balancing the books has to be priority for us sad I know but it’s a fact of owning a lower league club. I personally thought it would pan out like:-

                  first year survive,

Second year once all the top earners have gone full clear out start signing players 2-3 year deals, basically build the nucleus of a squad 3-4 key experienced players,

Third year squad in place, couple loans signings basis of a decent team in place push for top 6

Looking at the summer activity signings players has gone I think thats a pipe dream and I’m not sure if it will ever happen.

For a serial entrepreneurial guru throughout his working business life Danson’s no doubt took some high stake risks to get were he is but I must say he’s definitely going for the belt, braces, string and stitch shirt to pants approach with this one, he’s taking no risk what so ever.

Spend a few bob m8, you never know we might just shock you and be playing your beloved Man Utd in a few year.

Surely he never actually thought we’d ever be finally self sufficient braking even every year with a ground that’s hanging round our necks like a lead swimming float?.

I just hope Maloney’s got no kids or neighbors with pet rabbits because come Christmas one or two might be missing a foot or two

Will us heathens ever really know how much he’s been sold for ?..Bbc reports 4 million!!!….Bollocks !!….I’m not having that. After the administration fire sales I’d be stunned if our owner accepts that ….if he has ? then we really are financially F££££d….and Maloney won’t get a bean. Last night really hit home to me ….that overly youthful squad has league 2 written all over it. I also think when fit Macmanamen has a huge part to play nit just cos on his day from what ive seen so far he’s by a country mile our best winger but also his experience will be invaluable.

The club was in a mess to be fair. Danson picked up a insane wage bill for 12 months and basically there was no way out of it for him other to say no or pay them these players were contracted.

He subsidised the cost of those wages till they’d all eventually departed June of this year. So I do understand that debt needs to be paid back.

I think the rules should change once a club are taken over from clubs in a financial mess.

Contracts should be renegotiated simply because they were agreed with the previous owners who gave up the club and didn’t pay their employees.

I mean it was so simple for players to just say “Right you missed my pay day I’m off” there should be a whole ruling on wages.

Now my bone to pick with Danson

He fully well knew the shit we were in, he fully well knew that when these contracts ended and that huge chain around the neck wage bill departed he would have to employ players on far less.

The bit I disagree with is getting rid and replacing the majority with loans zero hours, kids, and players with no league experience were a car crash waiting to happen.

Yes the club needs to balance the books and try and be self sufficient I get that but over time, gradually.

£4 million ? how much did we get for Lang? again undisclosed. I’ve said it before this club feels cold, uninviting, cloak n dagger, with no investment into first team signed (not loans) players.
There’s no argument about selling Hughes but what I saw Tuesday was frightening, bar Chambers I cannot see the makings of a side

To all those who’ve backed us win it ?

                        Bookies said thanks

The shrinking 7 million, is now 3.5 million according to reports.
Typical Latics, grab the first offer; rather than hold their nerve and stoke up interest with bigger & more attractive clubs. We must be desperate to pay Danson his pocket money back

So it seems Hull activated his release clause of £3.5million which seems a tab low.
The squabbling was never over how much but how we got paid. I hope and pray there’s a min 20% sell-on stuck in there.

At the early rumours of £7million he was over valued and we would have cleaned up but £3.5million Hull have snatched a bargain.
I’m not sure why we had such a low release clause figure especially with the length of contract he had left but the deals done,he’s gone, move on.

I personally liked the way Carragher looked against Barnsley the odd fluff but so did Hughes against Charlton. Carragher needs games match time and with Aimson and Kerr he’ll hopefully learn fast.

Just a shame Maloney won’t see any of that money he might get a subway bought for him that’s it. I’ve got a feeling he’ll be scouring for an older forward and Stones will go out on loan that’s my thoughts
