That secretive” undisclosed” statement means we’ll never really know exactly how much he went for but if all the information coming from Hull is correct then 3.5 million means post administration we’re still getting our pants pulled down. Whoever agreed to the “aledged ” release clause is “F@@@@## incompetent !!! Our biggest asset and he’s IMO been given away to the 1st bidder. If there actually was a release clause then it’s a f@@@ up……worse still if there wasn’t then it’s worrying. After being asset stripped buy the administration, players given away I really thought Danson would hold out and make the pirahnas pay the going rate !!!…..Very disappointed.
16 August 2024 at 2:54 pm #203479Lets be sensible here. If he hadnt signed a new contract he would have gone for nothing. Getting him to agree a new deal rather than the rats that went to nob end was a bonus, and he has to also look after his own interests, like it or not, so i dont see anything wrong with him signing with a min release clause – it guarantees us a fee and to reward him for not jumping ship, lets him leave when the fee is met and he wants to go. We probably wanted a higher release clause, but if we had to settle on 3.5 mil versus lose him for nothing potentially, then i see that as good business, not bad, and good luck to him.
16 August 2024 at 6:14 pm #203482So what’s the point of the future fund thing if as soon as we get a talent, they’re sold for peanuts and the money just disappears to go to ‘pay debts’? How long will that tale/excuse be put out for?
Back in the 80s and early 90s, Bill Kenyon was slaughtered for things like assets being sold off cheaply…for example, David Lowe to Ipswich for 87k. But at least back then the supporters weren’t being milked for the privilege. It’s like putting your money in a fruit machine that has been rigged to never actually pat out…but you keep ploughing your money in, in sheer hope and naivety. If I’d signed up for that abhorrent scheme which is being ran by an increasingly abhorrent club, I’d have cancelled my DD for it today. (Well, weeks ago, actually)
You are being pickpocketed monthly…and they’re letting you use your own hand. The way things are, if no money is used to strengthen this squad, which was weak before Hughes was sold, then we are in trouble. Massive trouble.
16 August 2024 at 8:20 pm #203483Danson is loaded I’m sure he will put his and in his pocket to make us a decent footballing side
Without selling our best players to keep the rugby going strong lol16 August 2024 at 9:45 pm #2034843.5m is peanuts for a league 1 player ? As much as we alm would like to have got at least 5m and it reinvested in the squad, it aint gonna happen, at least not for a while. I hate the fact Danson is invisible, I hate the fact he seems to care more for the egg chasers, but it is what it is as much as i hate to say that, so 3.5m to me is acceptable as to where we are at the moment in terms of sustainability versus expecting crazy money. It will all take time, as much as i would like to see us spend hundreds of thousands upwards, it aint gonna happen for a while yet, and yes that pisses me off big style, but the other option is no club and jack shit to do on a sat afternoon apart from take the maud shopping….
17 August 2024 at 11:13 am #203486Danson took on a club on the brink of extinction. Had we have gone into admin I promise you without someone stepping that would have been it.
He inherited a huge wage bill with numerous players on £10k plus. For a Championship side that’s ridiculous a L1 it utter madness.
As we know a few players left using the “I weren’t paid clause” and another simply paid too much.
Danson then proceeded to pay these big earner wages for the best part of 12 months till all their contracts were up this summer. Now I fully understand the Hughes money has to go back into the running of the club that’s understandable.
Now that’s fair enough as Dansons dipped into own pocket propping up this wage bill fiasco create by that gobsh*te Brannigan.
As for Danson been invisible?, that’s his nature, he keeps himself out the limelight a very private person and rarely does interviews so again that’s fine.My issue is this:-
Now the wage bill has gone down to non league level due to cheap loans and players just happy to be playing been added to the squad we need to slowly re-build. What I see is a company that gets rid of its skilled work force replaced with a load of apprentices.
The current squad has a total lack of experience especially in the middle,
Up front?, wow !! We’re thinner than pound shop toilet roll coupled with a manager who’s frustrated to fook at the lack of funds it’s a very dangerous relegation game to play.Yes get rid of the big earners I agree but at least replace some of those that have gone with experience.
CEO ?, we need a dedicated football. A CEO who communicates with the manager and fans alike. If Danson loves playing the phantom of the brick stadium then we need someone visible and two way communication with fans and manager alike.
Danson isn’t a fool so he knew the state of the clubs fiances when he took over and I’m sure he would have known it would take some of his own money to get us back on an even keel.
If he wants to recoup it on year two then fine again but to do that something has to give and right now it’s a slash wages and sale time.
I honestly fear for us this season. The Barnsley game was an eye opener. Both sides made a host of changes but their squad was far far superior to ours and we were hammered that second half and that will be our downfall
Little investment
Youngest squad I’ve ever seen 13 out the 28 20 or less
And a bench that’s resembles an u21 side.Fingers crossed I hope I’m so so wrong I do and these young lads prove me wrong but that’s how I see it
